EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Mr. Jacob Connor. Mr. Connor is a hard-working and dedicated SESP at the MES. He not only has a way of getting the most out of the students he works with, he also works beyond the school day as a coordinator for the Project Reach program. Mr. Connor has been on the MPSD team since August of 2021.
Principal Cotreau had nothing but great things to say about Mr. Connor. "Mr. Connor is absolutely wonderful with students. He is always kind, patient and respectful no matter who is working with. He is an SESP who takes the time to get to know the students with whom he works and builds a positive and meaningful rapport with all of them. Mr. Connor also does an outstanding job running our Project Reach program. In fact, we have an extra long waiting list because of how much fun Mr. Connor has made it for our students. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for them. Martinson is extremely lucky to have him on our team!"
Congratulations to Mr. Connor for being recognized as this week's Educator of the Week. He has made such a big impact on the students at the MES and we want to thank him for all of his efforts. #WeRMarshfield

SC VOTES ON PRELIMINARY FY25 OPERATING BUDGET
At the School Committee meeting on Tuesday night, the Committee voted on a Preliminary FY25 Operating Budget. The "needs based" budget number they voted was $60,515,050. This was comprised of contractual increases, estimated operational increases and items that were identified on the District's Financial Plan.
Over the next four months, the SC and the District's Leadership team will work with the Town's Financial Team and various boards to continue to revise this number as it is clear, the needs based number exceeds what the current projected revenues could support. In their preliminary budget, the Town has proposed a school budget of $57,452,307.
A final number on the FY25 Operating Budget for the schools will be voted on at the April 9th meeting.
Here's a link to the FY25 Preliminary Budget Presentation.

LUNCHROOM FUN AT THE EWS
I had the pleasure of working with my friends in the EWS cafeteria this week. An amazing staff mixed with kind and courteous students. A wonderful combination.
Lessons Learned from World War II & Why it Matters Today
I wanted to take a moment to thank Mr. Steve Waisgerber, the MHS Social Studies/History Department Chair, the teachers of his department, the History Club and the MHS National Honor Society for hosting Thursday night's program; Lessons Learned from World War II and Why it Matters Today.
This amazing event brought together a panel that included Mr. Eddie Desmond, a local World War II Navy Veteran who took part in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945; Dr. Christopher Lehman, Sr., Ph.D., an expert on national security and former Special Assistant to President Ronald Reagan for National Security Affairs (1983-1985); Ms. Christy Pitts, MHS teacher and Marshfield parent with a unique family story that resonated with everyone; and Ms. Dawn Stankavish, a Marshfield resident, parent and the president of Massa Products, a major South Shore sonar company.
All four talented individuals spoke from the heart regarding the parallels in history, especially the time around WWII, to the present. They shared personal stories, opined on what could happen in the future and shared how the lessons we learned from World War II can play an important role in the decisions our leaders could make regarding the challenging international landscape we find ourselves in today.
It was a tremendous evening and the hundreds in attendance learned quite a bit over the two hour presentation. Below are a few photos from the event.
