Town Center Parent Newsletter

Our classroom teachers will email out classroom assignments on the morning of Thursday, August 13th. The email will include the names of their teachers and a Zoom link to the virtual Meet the Teacher that will occur that evening. Due to the number of emails that are being sent out at one time via our communication system, it is likely that not all families will receive their email at the same time. We anticipate them all being delivered by noon that day. Please wait to reach out to the school until after that time. Many times the issue is due to the email being in a spam folder or the system sending it to one listed parent over the other. If you have not received your class assignment by noon on August 13th, please do not hesitate to reach out to our secretary Laura Fairchild at lfairchild@coppellisd.com

Our educators are excited to meet their new learners! In place of our usual face to face, Meet the Teacher will be done virtually this year using the Zoom platform. It will be a time for our educators to introduce themselves, see all the new faces, and share their class schedule and contact information for any follow-up questions or needs that you may have. Due to the limited Zoom time and the amount of families within each Zoom session, we want to share the following information:

• Our CISD building guidelines allow for our staff to not wear a mask if they are alone in their workspace/classroom, so during Meet the Teacher our educators will not have their masks on.
• Educators will have the "chat" feature open if parents have any questions. They will be able to "record" these questions for a follow-up grade level team FAQ or individual email, as needed.
• While the educators will be speaking live, all other participants will be on mute throughout the meeting in order for the best audio experience for all families.
• Each of your child's educator's will be on the Zoom meeting.
• To adjust your current view once in Zoom, you can click on the top right hand corner of the screen to switch to "speaker" view which allows you to only see the educator that is speaking or "grid" view to see more participants at once.
• All Meet the Teacher Zooms will be recorded and uploaded into Schoology the following day in case any families are not able to attend. You have the option to turn your camera off in the Zoom.

All elementary campuses have designated next Friday, August 14th as a day that parents are able to pick up items from their home campus if they choose. At Town Center, we will have two pick up time frames- 10:00-11:00 AM and 2:00-3:00 PM. If you are having someone else pick up your items due to not being available at that time, please email our secretary Laura Fairchild so she can make a note of that.

Whether you come to pick up items or wait to receive them when returning to campus, is entirely up to each family that ordered items. If your child plans to return to school on September 8th for face to face instruction, we are more than happy to hang on to your school supplies and other items. Our staff has confirmed with me that not having the materials from their supply pack would be okay for the first three weeks of remote learning if your child has some type of paper to write on at home.

Below is important information to help that day run as smooth as possible.

• We will be on the side cafeteria loop.
• Stay in your vehicle and drive through the loop.
  
• Mrs. Mancuso, our librarian, will be in the loop if you still have any TCE library books at your home to return.
• We will have a table with regular sized notebook paper and Kinder/1st grade handwriting writing paper that we are happy to distribute for free if you are in need of those items. You are welcome to pick up just paper and not supplies if that is all you are in need of.
• Due to district volunteer guidelines and current staff participating in various trainings, we will have a limited amount of volunteers. A big thank you to our five members from the PTO Board that have been approved by the district to support us that day.
