Weatherford ISD Teachers Were In For A Surprise
WHS Outreach Club ~ Serving our Community
Junior World Affairs Council
Monday night, December 12th, was an exciting one for the Weatherford Junior World Affairs Council. They had the unique privilege of getting to hear a conversation of one of the sitting US Supreme Court Justices, Stephen Breyer, at a formal dinner located at the Fort Worth Club in Downtown Fort Worth. This was a rare and wonderful opportunity. These individuals rarely give presentations and if they do it is usually at much larger venues. Justice Breyer was so much fun to watch. He was very candid, comfortable, and humorous. He answered questions from the audience and at the end of the evening posed for pictures with individuals from high schools only. This was a wonderful surprise since the JWAC were in a dining room full of lawyers, elected officials and others of prestige. This was an evening none of them will soon forget.
The next day, Justice Stephen Breyer gave an interview with KERA which can be heard by clicking the link below. He gave one more presentation in Dallas on Tuesday evening before making his way back to Washington, DC.
A Talk with Justice Stephen Breyer
Stephen Breyer has served as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court since 1994. This hour, we’ll talk with him about his career on the bench – and about his book, “The Court and the World: American Law and the New Global Realities” (Vintage Books). He was in town for events with the World Affairs Council of Dallas-Fort Worth.
