October 31- Costume or Orange and Black Day
Our next theme day is approaching. On October 31st students may choose to wear their costume or orange and black to participate in this fun day. Please remember, costumes need to be appropriate (not too scary or suggestive of violence). Masks that are part of costumes need to be left at home as students are asked to not wear masks during school.
It is also important to consider cultural sensitivity when choosing a costume. We understand that it would never be someone's intention to offend someone else, but being aware of costumes that are considered cultural appropriation is important.
Let's have a fun and spirited October 31st!
Photo Retakes October 25th
There will be an opportunity for students to have photo retakes on October 25th. There is no need to sign up in advance. Classes will be called down throughout the morning, and only students wishing to take retakes will go to the gym for a photo.
BFG (Big Gamily Groups)
This year we have brought back BFGs. In short, this is getting the whole student community together for 30 minutes each day 6. On certain days for BFG we will practice our faith with a school wide hymn sign. On other BFG days we will complete themed activities. We completed one of these just before Truth and Reconciliation Day. In a BFG very soon we will be arranging students into their 'petite famille'. These are mixed grade groups of students that will get to know each other better, work on activities together and help us to continue to build a sense of school community. We are looking forward to a great year together in BFG with our 'little families' as well!
Calgary Police Presentation
On October 17th the Calgary Police joined us to speak with division 1 and division 2 students in mini assemblies. They focused on how the police are friends in the community and on Halloween safety.
Christmas Concert
Mark you calendars! Our Christmas concert for 2024 will take place a 6:30 PM December 9th at St. Michael's Parish (800 85 St SW). Our teachers and students will be preparing a lovely performance in each grade. Stay tuned for more details coming in November.
A Big Thank You
Dear Parents,
We sincerely thank you for your thoughtful gesture signing up for making posters and your generous donations toward teacher appreciation meals. Our school was full of beautiful, colorful inspiring messages from the posters made by parents and kids for World Teacher’s Day. The delicious lunch was provided on October 4th and due to your incredible generosity, we have enough funds to provide another meal during Parent/Teacher interview day in November. Thank you!
