Keeping you informed on important dates and information
New Englanders know that the weather can change quickly and sometimes be unexpected. Friday certainly was one of those days where we know many of us weren't expecting the snow accumulation we had. It certainly made for a chilly Halloween weekend this year but looking ahead it looks like we will have a warm-up at the end of the week.
Despite that, as colder temperatures continue to sneak upon us, we would like to remind students to dress with the weather. In accordance with our health guidelines, we will keep classroom windows open to promote air circulation. This may cause the air temperature to fluctuate in classrooms. Students should dress in layers to be sure they are able to adjust to the variable temperatures.
We want to thank the entire Nipmuc community for their work in adhering to the health and safety guidelines set forth for hybrid learning. There have been many adjustments, and students have been wonderful about following the new protocols. We wanted to offer a reminder that physical distancing guidelines apply in the hallways just the same as in classrooms. When possible, students should keep 6 feet of distance between themselves and others. We appreciate the continued support of these guidelines.

Picture Day
This year picture day will be hosted on two different days to accommodate both cohorts. Cohort 2 will be on Thursday, November 12, and Cohort 1 will be on Monday, November 16.
For our stand-alone remote learners, you will be able to choose either of those days between 2:30pm-4pm to come to school and have your picture taken.
Lifetouch is offering a safe, paperless and 'contactless' school picture day. If you purchase school photos online, you will not need to return any paperwork back to Nipmuc on picture day. You can purchase your pictures by clicking here.
Please contact Amy Buzzell at abuzzell@mursd.org if you have any questions.
Parent / Teacher Conferences
Congratulations Officer Ambrosino and Welcome Officer Poxon!
We’d like to offer huge congratulations to School Resource Officer Carl Ambrosino who will begin his retirement on Friday. Carl has been our resource officer since we opened this school in 1997. In his role, he has not only guided us through challenges but also been a mentor to students, a valued colleague, and a true community-builder. From working the grills at the annual DECA cookout to staying up all night at every After Prom Party to having fun with the students at all of our senior trips to teaching sessions at Inspired Learning Days and more - Carl has been a great friend to Nipmuc. We are grateful for all that he has done for the school in providing support and building such a fantastic partnership with the Upton Police Department. We wish you well, Carl!
Over the course of the last week, Officer Ambrosino has been providing support and training to our new School Resource Officer, Isaiah Poxon. Officer Poxon is a Nipmuc graduate who has shown true commitment to the MURSD community through his role on the UPD, as a coach, in running recreation nights, and much more. We are excited to welcome him to our school as he begins this new chapter of his professional life.
