Ivan Green Weekly Update

Dear Ivan Green Families:

We had our first community circle gathering today at Ivan Green, and it was a HUGE hit. We have some very talented actors and actresses on staff at IG, and they got to show their acting prowess today! We kicked off our home reading program today with an entertaining skit that highlighted the power of reading.

In each student's folder tonight you will find their very first BEAR cards with a formal introduction to the program. We want all our Lancers to Be Enthusiastic About Reading by practicing every day.

Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have questions about our program. We are hoping to collectively read 3,000 books by January first!

We closed out our week today with our evacuation drill. We took advantage of the beautiful weather and walked to our gathering site, the church on Whipple Lane. We practice this drill in case there is ever a reason we cannot continue to occupy our school. We would walk to the church to await transportation to another location where we would expedite dismissal.

The kitchen will start selling snacks every Friday. Ice cream cones or ice cream on a stick is $1.00. Dixie cups ice cream is $0.75. cookies are $0.75 each and chips are $1.00.

If your child receives free lunch, you can still add money for snacks. The money will only be used for the "extras."

This week's highlight is from the gym. Students are working hard on basic locomotor skills that involve teamwork. Also, we have this week's Gym Class Heroes who are selected for showing HEART in the gym.
