Some important updates for parents/guardians of seniors:

2022 SEE Manual
Senior Trip Deposits Due Friday 1/21
- $25 deposit for the Senior Class Trip is due by Friday, January 21. Students should bring their money to Mrs. Schwalbe in the main office, or see Mrs. Andrews or Ms. Barkley with any questions.
Scholarships Available!
- Seniors should check the Weekly Scholarship List, as new scholarships are added almost daily. The majority of local scholarship applications will be available in February through March. The list is accessible in Google Classroom under College and Career Planning.
- Also, seniors should scan the barcode posted on the college acceptance bulletin board and enter all college acceptances, even if their college pennant is already posted. Gold and silver pens are available in the CCC to sign acceptance pennants.
School Counseling Updates
PSAT Results
PSAT results are available for students and families to review. The school counselors are finishing visiting all of the English classrooms this week to discuss with students how to view the scores, what the scores mean, and other important information regarding the PSAT. All students take the PSAT in October of their 9th, 10th & 11th grade year. Juniors then take the SAT in March of their junior year as part of the State of Connecticut assessment. Students can then sign up to take the SAT through the College Board if they wish to take it again. Any questions regarding PSAT scores and the SAT test can be directed to your students' school counselor.
Course Selection Starts Soon!
Counselors will start having the conversation with students when we return in the new year to talk about course selection for the 2022-2023 school year! The course selection process starts in mid January and students have until mid March to make final decisions.
Art Awards!
Congratulations to Olivia Chadwick '22 for winning a Gold Key Award and an Honorable Mention for 2 of her submitted artworks to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!
Fan Expectations at Sporting Events
Winter sports are in full swing, and we love having Rebel supporters at our events to cheer on our student athletes. Recently, we have reminded students of expectations for spectators, to be sure that we have an atmosphere that is fun, but does not cross the line into being inappropriate or dangerous.
Below, please see our league and school expectations for fan behavior:
The SWC and New Fairfield High School encourage and expect good sportsmanship, a family friendly environment, positive fan support, and positive fan interaction. These expectations extend to all areas of the school campus and facilities before, during, and after athletic contests.
The SWC and New Fairfield High School do not condone and will not tolerate:
- Inappropriate Behavior
- Including but not limited to: profane language and gestures; targeting or taunting of players, coaches, officials, and game personnel; physical violence and spitting
- Disruptions to the Game
- Including but not limited to: fans approaching or storming the playing surface; throwing objects onto the field/court; destruction of property
- Disrespecting Officials
- Intoxicated Fans
Prohibited Items include: open containers at entry; baby powder and similar substances; noisemakers such as bells, whistles, air horns and megaphones; costumes that completely cover faces (medical-type masks for those who wish to wear them are permitted). No re-entry is permitted at sporting events.
Remember that attending sporting events is a privilege, not a right. Fans who display unacceptable behaviors or violations of the rules will be subject to sanctions including refusal of admittance, removal, and possible arrest. Students in attendance must still abide by the NFHS Code of Conduct.
Please also remember that properly worn face masks are required at all indoor athletic events.
