It is School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) nomination time! We need three parents for our School Site Council to be properly constituted this year.We need two to three parents for our ELAC. Part of the wonderful culture at Parkview is how many of us strive to make each staff member to feel equally valued. Each adult at school has an equally valuable role. We are like cogs in a machine. We cannot function unless all parts are doing their job. Hope everyone is having a great start to the school year! Here is a little health office news/updates.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

• Myrna Moreno is the health clerk sub while Lisa Aranda is on leave.
• I am the district nurse assigned to Parkview. My scheduled day at Parkview this year is Tuesdays. I try to be there as much as possible on Tuesdays.
• When students are sent to the health office, they are sent with a form. They will come home with a copy of this form to inform you of their visit. You will receive a phone call for an injury that is more than a minor scrape or bruise.

The MTSS committee met last week to discuss this year's focus area and plan next steps. Here is a summary of our discussion and plan.

• 2019-2020 Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is our Focus Area

• The district will be piloting an SEL screening tool from Panorama that will give us baseline data with which to make instructional decisions.

• There will be 6 areas of focus to survey for 2019-20

• *Self efficacy (Similar to our teacher efficacy focus area-consistent and similar to collective teacher efficacy)

• *Sense of Belonging

• Self Management

• Teacher student relationships

• school climate

• Grit

The district used the California Healthy Kids Survey results to choose the first two areas of focus. The other four were selected by Larsen, Haycox, and Parkview's MTSS committees.
