Hello Kindergarten Families:
Our scholars are continuing to practice our routines/procedures and our classroom and school wide expectations. As the weather begins to change, please be mindful of your scholar’s extra clothing that is at school. Their clothes should be appropriate for the upcoming fall weather, and all of their items should be labeled with their name and grade level.
We are continuing to assess our scholars with the KRA Assessments for the next couple of weeks, and we will begin our Dibels assessment starting next week. Please make sure your scholar is well rested, eats a balanced breakfast daily, and comes to school on time.
Please make sure that you are connected to your scholar's ClassDojo and teacher email. These are the best forms of communication between ourselves and your families. Please make sure that you are reading any messages via ClassDojo, class story, or emails pertaining to your scholar’s class. Your scholars should bring their homework journals back to school on Fridays.
Please ensure that your scholar arrives to school on time each day. There are two kindergarten classes that have specials that begin at 8:00 am, and the other two kindergarten classes have specials at the end of the day.
We will be going to Elioaks Farm in Ellicott City Maryland on October 25, 2023. We ask that you pack a paper bagged lunch with all disposable items for the field trip. There should be no nut products since we will be eating together at the farm. Your scholar will have a bag to carry their pumpkins while they are at the farm. Your scholar is expected to wear their uniform and have a name tag to wear with our school information on it.
A permission slip will be sent home soon, and the payment will be made on my school bucks. You will be notified when the permission slip is sent home and when the payment is due.
If your scholar is in enrichment for the afternoon, please make sure they are bringing their homework journal daily, so they can work on their homework.

Math: We are just flying through our material here! Scholars are reviewing and taking the test for Topic 2, using patterns to solve multiplication. Our upcoming topic will use known multiplication facts to solve new facts. For example: 3x8 can be solved by combining 2x8 and 1x8.
Here's an activity you can try together with your scholar:
Matching Multiplication
Materials: Cards with multiplication facts that have 3, 4, 6, 7, or 8 as a factor and separate cards
with the products for each fact
• Each player turns over one factor card and one product card in order to find a multiplication
equation match.
• If the cards match, the player keeps the cards and takes another turn. If not, the two cards
are returned to the bottom of each set and the next person tries to find a match.
• Continue until all cards have been correctly matched.
Science: Scholars are working on identifying forces that act on objects such as pushing forces, pulling forces, and friction.
