Amanda Qualls and Tracy Brown are AMAZING! In the past month I have asked for Amanda's help with multiple projects and she willingly jumped in to make them fabulous. And Tracy has a special way of with the kids that make them love her and looking forward to coming to the library. She truly makes connections with our kids coming through the library. Elizabeth Dowden and Kelley Marrow for helping 3rd grade with our reading intervention groups on Tuesday's and Thursday's. They are helping us support ALL kids with reading and comprehension skills.

STAAR Information
March 2, 2017
Parents of Paloma Creek 4th and 5th Grade Students:
Please mark March 28th-29th, on your calendar. Your child will take the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) on these days. These tests, which must be given to all students in the third (will test in May) fourth and fifth grade, in the public schools of Texas, will assess students’ understanding of skills in math, reading and science. Please note the testing schedule for each grade level:
March 28th - STAAR Writing for 4th; STAAR Math for 5th
March 29th - STAAR Reading for 5th
As we prepare to give this state-wide assessment, may we have your support in the following areas:
1. Unless your child is ill, make a special effort to have him/her in school on the
day of the test.
2. Assist your child by having him/her receive an adequate amount of sleep the
night before and eat a good breakfast on the day of the test.
3. Be sure that students arrive at school on time (7:50). The test must begin
promptly at the start of each day
4. Students will not be allowed to have any electronic devices on testing days. This includes cell phones, iPads, tablets, eReaders, etc. If a student brings electronic devices to school on testing days it will be required to remain turned off and in their backpacks in their cubbies. Bringing such devices to school on testing days is highly discouraged.
5. Our campus will be closed to visitors during this testing administration.
6. If you have personal questions about the testing schedule, contact the school
prior to the scheduled testing dates.
We are vitally interested in both your child's level of academic progress and the quality of programs we offer. The STAAR will offer the opportunity to gather valuable information about both. For that reason, your assistance with this state-wide testing program will be appreciated.

Classroom wish lists will be available in the library as well. Spring Book Fair will be open from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm on Thursday, April 6th during PCE's 10 Year Anniversary Celebration. For an opportunity to volunteer, please follow the link below:
Stock the Fridge
What: Stock the Fridge is an event where Tutor Doctor gives back and thanks the educators who sacrifice on a daily basis to teach our kids and keep their success trajectory in a positive direction. We will reward the 3 winning schools (1 Elementary, 1 Middle & 1 High School and will need to have at least 400 votes to qualify) by stocking their fridge with goodies.
When: The contest will run from Feb 27th- March 9th . Fridges will be stocked after speaking to the winning schools.
Where: It is Denton ISD’s turn!
Who: Anyone can participate in the voting process.
How: Very Simple!

Istation Reading and Math
Are you looking for a way for your child to get more practice in reading and math? Every student at Paloma Creek has access to Istation Reading and Math at home! This is an online program that supports your child's learning on their level. The program can be used either on computers or an app can be downloaded for tablets. The students should know their login information, but your child's teacher can help if needed. Watch the video below to get your child access today!
