Shifting to Canvas
August 30, 2023
Padlet Update
Padlet has been integrated in Canvas. The first time you login, your account will be created. You will be able to import previously created Padlets. Below are directions for accessing Padlet in Canvas and additional sharing options.
- Establishing Your Padlet Account in Canvas
- How do I Access Padlet
- Padlet – Additional Sharing Option
This new connection with Canvas ensures the safest experience for students in Padlet and provides our district greater controls over student accounts. Do NOT sign in directly to padlet.com.
If students are experiencing difficulties with logging into your Padlet, then have them sign out of Padlet.com and have them clear their browsing history.
Padlet has new interactive features. These include Poll and I can’t draw.
- Polls – add a poll to your post to conduct a vote, quiz, or survey
- I can't draw - add auto-generated images to your Padlets
Technology Access Quick Start Guide
Should I Crosslist My Courses?
Cross-listing allows you to move section enrollments from individual courses and combine them into one course. This feature is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location.
- Follow the steps in the video created by Teacher Specialist Jennifer Gusso on this Canvas-created video. De-cross-listing is complex, so only cross-list when you are certain that you want your courses merged.
- You should only cross-list BEFORE students do any work. Otherwise, cross-listed students will lose access to their assignment submissions and grades since these are stored in their original course site. We suggest doing this at the beginning of the semester prior to publishing your course to students.
- Merge courses before adding content. When the merge is complete, you will no longer have access to the original course spaces. If you have content in the child course, copy it into your sandbox before cross-listing.
- Crosslisting courses will not affect grade passback.
IMPORTANT: ****If you need help with Crosslisting or made a mistake and need to Decrosslist, contact Canvas Support.****
