Trimester 1 Report Card Update
All trimester 1 report cards will now be made available to view digitally this school year through the District’s parent portal! Instead of receiving a paper copy, parents will access their child’s report card at their own leisure and convenience. The trimester 1 report card will be available to view on December 1st at 8am. After viewing online, you will be asked to digitally sign off that you have viewed your child’s report card. To be sure you can access this report card, please follow these directions for how to login. We hope this will allow parents better access to their child’s educational achievement.
If you would still like to request a paper copy or are unsure of how to login, please contact the main office for assistance prior to December 1st.

Griffin's Tale is Coming to Washington!
The PTO is bringing Griffin's Tale Children's Theatre Repertory Company to Washington! Griffin's Tale is Northwestern University's only Children's Repertory Theatre Company. They take stories and poems written by kids in the Evanston and Chicago areas and turn them into skits, sketches, songs, raps, dances, and more! Then, they visit the schools these amazing students attend and perform their stories for them. Griffin’s Tale is collecting submissions from Washington students from now until Thanksgiving break. One submission per student, please. Please turn any student writing samples into the main office by Friday, November 17th.
Scholastic Book Fair This Week!
Our Scholastic Book Fair starts tomorrow! The Book Fair will be open in the LRC from Tuesday to Thursday. A couple of things to note:
- Book Fair hours are: T 4-8 p.m., W 3-6 p.m., TH 4-8 p.m.
- Student and teacher Wish Lists will be stored near the register. Ask a volunteer to help you find yours!
- Sales benefit the school library as well! Mrs. Joyce and Mrs. Jaffe can select many new books for free to help bolster our library. The higher our sales, the more free books our library will earn.
- Three volunteer spots remain open - one each on these days/times: T 4-6 p.m., W 3- 4:30 p.m., TH 4-6 p.m. Click here to sign up!
Halloween 2023
Our Halloween parties will take place on Tuesday, October 31st. Please see below for the Halloween guidelines:
Students will come to school in costume. (Students may wear a Halloween mask during the parade only).
Room parents are asked to contact classroom teachers about plans for the holiday celebration.
Children should not bring any food or candy to share.
At 3:00 pm, the parade will begin. We will send the parade route out later this month.
All children will parade slowly, so there will be plenty of opportunities for pictures and videos.
Please remember to help your child make safe and respectful decisions about his/her costume. Students may wear a mask in the parade but not during school.
Halloween Trash to Treasure Recycling
Once you finish enjoying Halloween treats, the Washington Green Committee is encouraging students and staff members to collect and bring in their Halloween candy wrappers for recycling. There will be a Trash or Treasure™ box at the front of the building where we will collect empty candy wrappers! Once the box is filled up with candy wrappers (and only candy wrappers, please!), we will mail it back to the recycling processor. During processing, candy wrappers start their Second Life® as part of the circular economy. The wrappers are sorted by material, cleaned, and ground into small pieces. The plastic pieces then go down a long conveyor belt and into a machine that heats the shredded material, turning it into very small balls called plastic pellets. These pellets are used to make new plastic items! Thanks for your help!
