February
A message from Mr. Minniear
I hope this letter finds you well as we are heading into our second month of 2023. The month of February highlights several important topics here at OHE. Two of the biggest being "Heart Health Month" and of course our "Kindness Month". Students are encouraged to be heart healthy and engage in heart healthy activities during the month of February. We are also having our "Kindness Week" which allows students to dress up in different attire and practice different ways to spread kindness.
The Guiding Coalition was tasked with updating our OHE mission. They worked extremely hard the first semester to complete this task. They presented the new proposed mission to the entire staff and all staff are in support of the new OHE mission. We feel that our new mission encompasses ALL needs of ALL students and provides what is best for ALL students.
OHE Mission " The mission of Oakland Heights Elementary school is tor ensure all students achieve both academic and social emotional learning at high levels". This is who we are and the purpose to why Oakland Heights exists.
I hope you and your family has a fantastic February. "No act of kindness no matter how small is wasted"- ASEOP

- CKH word of the month is Kindness
- This month we are challenging your student to be kind to others, even when it’s hard. We are partnering with you to help your child grow in kindness. Most children learn new behaviors by copying those around them; we have a powerful opportunity and responsibility to teach kindness by example. This month, model kindness and empower your children to show compassion to those around them with these activities.
- EXCEL: Intentional Kindness As a family, list 25 random acts of kindness you can accomplish this month. Then, make a plan for how you’ll do each act. At the end of the month, reflect and celebrate. Encourage your child to share how it made them feel completing these random acts of kindness.
