December Parent Newsletter
Dear Parents,
December is here! Thank you for all your support thus far! Our kids are learning and growing! We would like to thank all our families for working hard to support of the education of your children at Jefferson Elementary School. We are very lucky to have you be part of the Jefferson Elementary School Family and Community.
While we continue to work hard to finish the year 2022 and welcome the New Year 2023, we want to remind our families on a few reminders. 1. Please ensure your child is coming to school every day, all day and on time. 2. Please ensure that your child is ready for school by going to bed early and is prepared by completing the 5 Keys to Success each day at home. 3. Please ensure that you contact the teacher directly by emailing or sending the teacher a note if your child is sick and will not attend school that day. 4. Please ensure that we are limiting the screen time at home, this can lead to disconnections of relationships with family and friends at home and this affects the day at school. 5. Finally, remind your child that school is fun and there are many opportunities for them to enjoy school by trying their best and not giving up even when it's hard. We are working on Persevering when things get tough. We are here to help you, please contact the classroom teacher or office if you need any help and support. Together Everyone Achieves More! Go TEAM! Go Jaguars!

SMART PASS at Jefferson
Dear Jefferson Parents,
At Jefferson in grades 3rd-5th, we will begin using the digital hall pass system SmartPass. SmartPass is a digital hall pass system that replaces traditional hall passes such as sign-out sheets, wooden blocks, passbooks, and lanyards.
It provides administrators and teachers an accounting of which students are outside of the classroom during the school day. In case of emergencies such as fires, severe weather, or building intruders, administrators and teachers have real-time access to this critical information. Overall, the past history of a student will lead to more effective and informative parent-teacher conferences, as well as ensuring students are where they should be - in the classroom learning.
During COVID-19, it helps our school go contact-free by eliminating common touch surfaces such as wooden blocks, shared paper sign-out sheets, pencils, etc. It also can automatically limit the number of students in the bathroom with minimal intrusion to class instruction. Plus, it can perform contact tracing to get a list of students that were in the room at the same time as another student.
For more information, please visit the vendor’s website at www.smartpass.app.

Dear Jefferson Parents and Families:
The safety of our school community is important to us. Please find below the information regarding the implementation of a Door Buzzer that will be used by the Jefferson office staff for all visitors.

•When the buzzer is pressed, Office Staff will greet the visitor.
•Office staff will ask how, “How can I help you today?

•Visitors Identity will be confirmed by:
1) Verifying that the visitor is listed on the student emergency card
2) Verifying that they are expected at a meeting/event/service.
3) Once the visitor's identity is verified, the Office Staff will allow the visitor to enter the School Office.
•Office staff shall proceed with check-in procedures
