2022-2023 Reflection
A Note from your PSO
Hello again families! We hope you've been enjoying your first week of summer! This newsletter is a reflection on all we accomplished during the 2022-23 school year. With it being our first "normal" year since Covid, we weren't really sure what to expect. We didn't know if we would be able to raise enough money to fund our proposed budget. We didn't know if we would have leaders willing to take on all our traditional events and fundraisers. We didn't know how to adjust our events to accommodate all the families in our school. There was a lot up in the air, but the PSO couldn't be happier with how things came out. We are so impressed with the amount of support shown by our school community.
Thank you to everyone who stepped up to lead a committee, both those taking it on for the first time and our seasoned veterans. Thank you to all those who volunteered at events and during the school day; these roles are essential. Thank you to everyone who went out of their way to participate in our dine out events. Thank you to everyone who solicited donations and gave generously to our fundraisers. It really couldn't be done without each of you. So what we are trying to say is THANK YOU! Thank you for everything. Thank you for being a part of our Mary Woodward team. We will see you again in the fall!
2022-23 Fundraisers
What a fantastic year of fundraising!
The Jog-a-thon was held in October this year and we lucked out with a dry and beautiful day. The kids really ran their hearts out with the support of parents, staff and even Baldy. Kacie and Costa Capellas pulled off another great fundraiser and we exceeded our goal once again!
The Jog-a-thon raised $36,173.
Monica Bjers and Kumiko Mahan put together quite a few dine out events this year. For each event, a portion of the proceeds were donated to Mary Woodward PSO. Woodward families showed up in droves, eager to support the school and take a night off from cooking. McDonald's was very popular once again, and this time the staff got in on the fun, selling cookies in the lobby. We are still waiting for checks from the last Dine Out nights, but we already raised a good amount!
Dine Out raised at least $3,855 this year.
Those of you that were able to attend the auction, know just how amazing it was. It could not have been possible without Kelsey Paldino, Katie Hughes, Morgan Fricke, and Kristin Romelhardt. This team was constantly problem solving and coming up with creative solutions, allowing us to enjoy a trouble-free night of rodeo fun.
The auction raised $31,349 this year.
The Book Fair and Book Waterfall are the library's main sources of funding. Thank you, Danielle Smart, for putting together two wonderful Book Fairs this year. Although a much smaller event, the Book Waterfall managed to rehome over 300 books to be enjoyed by families. Thank you to everyone who donated gently used books making this possible.
The Book Fairs raised $13,693 and the Book Waterfall brought in $326 for a total of more than $14,000 for the library this year!
Jen Vasicek continues to manage the PSO Bottle Drop account and we kept her busy this year! Families were filling those blue bags with redeemable cans and bottles quickly! Jen also made clearly marked trash cans to help us collect cans at school events, which made a huge difference. If you still want to pick up some blue bags for the summer, the office is open until Monday, June 26.
The Bottle Drop brought in $620 this year.
Mary Woodward had a few families participating in Box Tops this year. Any time you purchase an item with a pink Box Top symbol on it, you can submit a picture of your receipt to the Box Top app and Mary Woodward receives a small donation. We brought in $63 this year with most of the credit going to the 3rd grade families.
AmazonSmile ended in February 2023, but we managed to make $753 this year thanks to those who set Mary Woodward as their chosen charity.

Our Volunteers are the Best
The PSO would like to wholeheartedly thank each and every person who was able to volunteer this year. Many people had to take time off work to volunteer, which is beyond generous. Some parents stayed from set up to clean up for events, giving it their all. Many more parents help out without even having an assigned duty, just because they saw a need. Thanks to each and every one of you and we hope to see you again next year!
