Week of January 13th!
A Peek At Our Week:
We had another busy work and fun filled week in our classroom. We finished up Unit 3 Week 4 in our Wonders series and began our 5th unit in math learning how to use open number lines to subtract using the concept of counting on! In Science we discussed the terms assemble and disassemble putting these words into action creating structures made from different types of blocks. In Social Studies we talked about the importance of principals in citizenship ( empathy, honesty, integrity and respect). Students were engaged during Italian class learning colors and counting up to 20!
We took some time to learn, discuss and write about the importance of Martin Luther King Jr. See pictures below! You also may have noticed the magazine TIME for Kids. We are now reading these weekly. The children really enjoy them as do us adults; we are always learning something new! It's worth a look!
We finished out our week reading The Mitten and creating a writing assignment having to come up with our own animal who decided to crawl into the mitten. We had fun coming up with our individual ideas and writing about them. These will be displayed in our hallway for Catholic Schools Week!
Mrs. Flood also taught the class a game: left, right center. We had fun on Friday afternoon plaything this game! See pictures below!
Next week will will MAP test on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
We had a lot of absences this week and we seem to be under the weather. Tis the season!🤧 We do have our windows cracked at all times, I have been doing this all year. We also have our air purifiers on. Children have been wanting cough drops which are absolutely fine to bring in. Please make sure you child has a warm coat, hat and gloves every day! We go outside!!
Wishing you all a wonderful, restful long weekend!!
