@ Your Library
Welcome Back, West!
Looking forward to the school year!
- We will open to study hall and lunch students after the first full cycle, on Thursday, 9/6
- Mrs. Hunt and I will be running library and tech orientations with all 9th grade students in the first few weeks of school
- All students who come to the library must have a pass-- see below for details about study hall and lunch procedures
- We have LOTS of new database resources! Please reach out if you are approaching anything research related or are looking for resources for your own teaching (think OER). I would love to sit down with you and go over the databases with you and help build custom resources for your classes.
Check out Libguides for new resources!
Please visit our libguides page and click on "Library Resources" to see all of our new database resources. Note that a lot of these resources require passwords, especially for off-campus use. Reach out for any passwords you would like. I would love to build a custom libguide for your students and/or projects to streamline their research process-- let me know how I can help you!
Mrs. Semanyk -- Library Support
Please stop down and greet our new library assistant, Mrs. Semanyk. Mrs. Semanyk is not new to the building, but new in the library space, and I couldn't be more thrilled to work with her this year!
Are your students in the library?
We use librarytrac to keep track of students and classes in the library. Did you know that you can do the same? You have access to the student log and to our calendar. The password is dwestlibrary. This way you can see what students are currently in the library and you can check to see our overall availability. Please e-mail (mnass@dasd.org) or call x7510 to schedule your classes or check availability!

Study Hall and Lunch Procedures
Bring us your students (in reasonable quantities!)
- Lunch Passes- Students must sign up for lunch passes prior to their lunch period. We take a limited amount each period. They will be given a brightly colored pass to show to lunch and hallway monitors an that they will hand in at the reception desk in the library. They will sign in to the library log. Students may not come from the cafeteria unless they have a pass from us.
- Study Halls- You will receive a set of group passes in your mailbox. You may send up to 8 students on a group pass. Please sign their passbooks individually as well. (Many times the kids arrive well before their group pass). We will send the white portion of the group pass back to you for your records. If you want to send more than 8 students please call ahead. Many times this is okay, but when we are full, we cannot take more students from study halls. You can also check the library log for your students.
- From Classes- You are welcome to send students from classes as well if they have something they need to do in the library. Please make sure you sign their passbook. We will not allow students in the library without a pass. They will also sign in on the library log.
