What September brings at Northridge...
Letter from NHS Administration Team...
Our students and staff have had an amazing start to this school year and are ready to head into September. Students have settled in to courses and are feeling comfortable navigating the building and its resources. NHS Teachers and Staff members have been supporting, cheering, coordinating, managing, and attending events, making it possible for our Raider students to have the best experience possible. We are so fortunate to have such impactful, passionate educators. Our student activities are also in full gear with sports, band, theater, and much more!
In this month's letter, you will learn more about academic supports we offer and how to access those for your student. We know that plugging students in with extracurricular opportunities directly affects their success in school. Help us encourage your student to join a club, team, or organization.
We are also thrilled about the redesign of our school webpage. You can download the MCS app and access information easily such as documents, events, news updates, and even emergency notifications.

LET'S GO RAIDERS!!!
Raider Tables Are Back!
Raider Tables Return on September 6th!
Where: NHS Library
When: 3:50-5:30 P.M., Tuesdays and Thursdays
Staff: Mrs. Lavy and Mrs. (Brace) Lawrence & National Honor Society tutors
What: Raider Tables is an after-school tutoring opportunity for students. Honors students volunteer to help their fellow Raiders get caught up on homework, better understand assignments, or even review for quizzes and tests. The goal is to provide additional help so all students can find success. Students can ask their teachers to sign them up for Raider Tables as needed. Parents/Guardians should reach out to SRT teachers if they feel their student could benefit from extra help. Students are expected to stay until their assignment/work is completed.
SRT Resource Rooms!
NEW to SRT this year:
For the 2022-23 school year, we have been able to add to dedicated Resource Rooms during SRT: one for math and one for English. Students can be assigned to one of those rooms for specific help in those two tested content areas. If your student is struggling, they can ask their classroom or SRT teacher to sign them up for one of the resource rooms to get that guided help from a highly qualified teacher.
NWEA MAP Growth Testing
Freshmen and Sophomore students will take the NWEA tests during SRT in Reading and Math on the following days:
Monday, (9/12), Wednesday, (9/14), and Friday (9/16)
The NWEA MAP assessments are given three times each school year to measure growth in these two critical areas for our MCS students. The second testing window is in January and the third is in May. All three scores are necessary to provide educators with data about individual student needs and a way to see individual student growth for the year.
Please encourage your students to do their best!
