Thank you Mr. David Myles!
Mr. David Myles visited with students during their regularly scheduled life skills lessons last week. David's message centered around three concepts: self-awareness, taking action and being resilient. David shared key events that occurred during his upbringing that resonated with the students and shaped who he is today. One such event was when a classmate took action and invited David to join an activity at a time when he needed it the most. David shared how powerful the simple gesture was to him. He challenged the students to continue to grow their ability to be empathetic and to look out for one another. Students left their time with David feeling empowered to be aware of oneself, how important it is to take action when you see an opportunity to do so, and how vital being resilient is throughout life.

Grade 8 students used metal tipped picks and a sheet of scratch board to create amazing works of art. Students experiemented with the length of the scratches, the proximity of the scratches to one another and applied stippling (dotting) to create contrast. Fewer scratches = dark; lots of scratches = light. Well done Grade 8 Studio Art students!
