Canvas new Rich Content Editor

"Rich Content Editor" is a fancy name for the toolbar that you use to edit content in Canvas. Canvas has released an updated version of the toolbar that is more condensed, intuitive, and easier to use. The toolbar is grouped by common icons and interactions that are comprehensive yet easy to understand.

This new editor will be rolled out to all users soon (we anticipate January), but you can turn it on now and get a head start. Check out the video and link below to learn more.

Take time for yourself (efficiently)

Now, more than ever, we are pulled in many different directions, which causes stress levels to rise exponentially. It is important that we learn to deal with stress in a proactive way so that we can stay present for our students and others in our lives. A great stress management tool is mindfulness.

Mindfulness just means that you take a few minutes out of each day to focus on one thing like breathing or stillness. It means forgetting about all of the things you have going on, and focusing on being still and relaxed. This can be done in as little as 5 minutes per day.

There are several apps that can assist with mindfulness. One of those apps is called Insight Timer. It has information about how to be present in the middle of a stressful situation, as well as guided and unguided mindfulness meditations and techniques.

Fix OneNote permissions

If you are using OneNote Class Notebooks, you are probably sharing it with a lot of people. Sometimes, sharing permissions can become corrupted causing your students to not be able to access your Class Notebook.

Microsoft has a "fix sharing permissions" tool for your Class Notebook. Follow the link below, sign in, find your Class Notebook and click on fix permissions. Now you are back in business!

Adobe Spark is back!

Adobe Spark made quite a splash when it came on the scene a few years ago. After a brief hiatus, it is back and ready for you and your students to enjoy. If you are unfamiliar with Adobe Spark and how it works, reach out to your friendly IT today.

Reopen Early Modules in Canvas for Students to use as a Study Guide

You don't have to create an extensive study guide prior to giving an assessment. Open (Publish) up your past modules and quizzes so students can revisit them for easy reference and study.

Use Control+F to search in Canvas

This trick can be done in more places than just Canvas. If you don't want to scroll through a large lists of assignments, quizzes, or pages, you can press Control key and the F key to open a search bar. From there you can enter the name of the item you are looking for and it will pop up so you can choose it. Nifty!

Trim your interactive videos

Interactive videos are great. You can upload videos from Youtube or your computer and add questions throughout the video to increase engagement and student participation. Now you can trim those videos before presenting them to your students. Check out the video below to see how it is done.

Searching Teams with a Command

The command bar at the top of your TEAMS screen is a great place to navigate your TEAM and find useful information. If you want to find out about the latest features of TEAMS, simple type in /whatsnew in the command bar, and they will magically appear in front of you.

Name Channels with Emjois

Spruce up your channels with fun emojis. Not only are emojis fun and colorful, they are useful in helping younger and special needs students navigate your TEAM.

Click on the 3 dots next to the channel and choose edit this channel. While renaming the channel, click on the windows key and the period key to get a list of emojis that you can insert into the TEAM name. Easy-Peasy!

CTHS/GFES Read Alouds

Gators know how to roll with the punches. Since they were unable to do a normal storybook read aloud this year, they opted for a virtual one featuring the football players from Chisholm Trail High School. Too cool!
