New This Week
Dear Amazing Team,
As we approach the 100th day of school next month I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all of the hard work, dedication, and care you’ve been pouring into our students. We are officially in the thick of winter, and yet, the warmth and enthusiasm you bring to the classroom continue to shine through.
The 100th day is such a milestone! It’s a great time to reflect on how far we’ve come and celebrate all the growth we’ve seen in our students so far this year, take the small victories and wins. It’s also a reminder that we’re a team — one that can support each other and keep the momentum going as we tackle the challenges ahead.
I know winter can feel like a long stretch, but I’m confident that together, we’ll continue to inspire, uplift, and help our students achieve amazing things. Thank you for all the little things that make a big difference. Your hard work never goes unnoticed, and I appreciate everything you do for our school community.
Stay warm, stay positive, and let’s make the next part of the year just as successful and fulfilling as the first!
Fire Marshall Inspection - Friday, January 17
The Fire Marshall will be here tomorrow to conduct an inspection. Nothing should be hanging from the ceilings. Any boxes or bins on top of cabinets must be at least 2 cinderblocks below ceiling. Any plug ins including lamps, space heaters, kettles, etc need to be removed until further notice. We are expecting a QSAC inspection soon.
Please email Stacy M. or Mark if you have any questions.
SchoolStore Fundraiser starting January 21st
The huggers program will begin on Tuesday, January 21. Stacy will email homeroom teachers tomorrow with more information. The video states that when students return the envelope, they will receive a prize. Please let the students know they might not receive the hugger that day, especially on the first day. This is always the biggest reply with over 300 envelopes being returned. All students that earn the hugger prize will get one! There is a minimum of 6 emails to qualify for the hugger.
Our teachers received $21,075 in Caring for Classrooms Gift Cards last year! 😁

Please remember to accept all observations, as well as, complete your mid-year self assessment prior to your mid-year summative meeting.
Gently Used Teacher Chair
We have a few chairs in the conference room that we are looking to deploy to a new home. If your chair is in bad shape, please email directly.
Home Instruction
If anyone is interested in providing home instruction for a kindergarten student, please email me directly.
Principal/Assistant Principal for the Day
If your students are saving their cub coins and are interested in being the principal or assistant principal for the day, please email us and we will get back to you with a date and time. Remember, students must have 150 coins. We also spoke about having them for a portion of the day this year, not ALL day.
Picture Consent
If you are looking at your students media/picture consent it is now under the GENERAL category on the students profile page.
Grades entered in Realtime
Please try to enter grades within 2 weeks of an assessment. This information is used when BSI students are being monitored to potentially re-enter the program, as well as, when we are picking up new students for the program.
Hand Warmers
For staff that have outside morning or afternoon duty, there are hand warmers in the main office to help when it is bitter cold.
Morning Duty
If you are outside for bus duty in the morning, please understand that you do not have to stop parents. Admin and/or security will question why parents are here and the need to enter the building. We have had a few parents that are taking advantage of arrival and bringing kids to the front and trying to skip the car pool line. We do have a couple exceptions for kids entering through the front on a daily basis. We also have some students that come for CST testing.

Lesson Plan Guidance
- Thank you for taking the time to listen this morning as I reviewed lesson plan expectations.
- I again apologize that not more time was given to review expectations on one of the opening days as we prioritized getting you back in your classrooms with all the construction.
- We appreciate your time with structuring lesson plans to meet District expectations.
- Any feedback given is meant to be helpful in guiding you to meet those expectations such as having the most recent weekly overview at the top of you Google Doc or having the current standards stated for your lessons for that week.
- If you need more support or clarification, please email me directly and I will come over to support you.
- Our goal is to make this as stress free as possible while meeting compliance expectations to support the teaching and learning process.
Please contact me with any questions at cdesimone@delranschools.org or call my extension at 3032. I am more than happy to help!
Safe Snack List
Just a clarification: This list is not needed for snack time in your classroom. If you have a severe allergy and need special accomodations from your parents, please talk to the nurses. We have found that once we call parents they are typically allergies that are not airborne.
Please see our new safe snack list here. This is for PreK-5, MB & DIS.
