The BUZZ @ HMS
End of the year newsletter
Greetings HMS Hornet Families,
While our school year for 2022-23 has come to an end, we are eagerly wrapping up paperwork, planning for the 2023-24 school year and launching summer school. Thank you for your support in helping us guide your child to a better and brighter future. We have thoroughly enjoyed watching them grow academically, socially and emotionally this past year.
Report cards were mailed out last week. Included in the mailing were your students IXL log in username and password. Using IXL is a great way for your child to continue their learning throughout the summer and help prevent the "summer slide". "Summer slide" occurs when students have not been engaged in learning over 6-8 weeks. How do you prevent summer slide for your child? Keep them learning daily. Some of the ways you could do that are having your student work on IXL math and ELA concepts for 15-30 minute daily, reading for enjoyment 15-30 minutes daily and practice basic math facts. You could also have them follow recipes and cook your meals this summer:)
Enjoy some highlights and celebrations below. We are looking forward to working with you all next year! Please save the date of August 16th for our Back to School Open House. On behalf of our HMS family, I wish you all a safe & enjoyable summer break!
Gratefully,
Jennifer L. Thrush
