Congratulations to the Trexler Orchestra on a fine performance Monday night! 6th grade orchestra showed great poise at their first concert, playing all three pieces very well together. 7th grade orchestra showed excellent growth in their performance skills, demonstrating good balance in playing out the melody parts in Saint Nick's Canon on the Housetop. 8th grade orchestra performed three pieces, stretching their technical abilities in Time Machine which highlighted famous melodies from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods and the jazz era. 7th and 8th grade combined forces successfully for two pieces, highlighting the violas, cellos, and basses in Aeolian Rock. Mrs. Nosow thanks you for your hard work this semester.

AVID students welcomed guest speaker Robin Randolph on Friday, December 15th. Ms. Randolph is a surgical technician. She works at a neurosurgeon in New Bern. She spoke to the AVID students about opportunities in the medical field, specifically in the operating room. She explained the path that she took to become certified in this field. The students were fascinated by the supplies and tools she brought to show the group. Ms. Randolph emphasized the value of being a good team member in the workplace. It was such a pleasure to hear Ms. Randolph and how passionate she is for this field and to help people.

Science Fair Success
Congratulations to Caroline Cubas, Carrington Sydes, Ethan Petsch, and Chris Bissette.
These Trexler students competed in the Onslow County District Science and Engineering Fair on Wednesday, Dec 12, 2017. Their outstanding projects have been selected to move on to the East Carolina Regional Science and Engineering Fair that will be held at UNCW in February. Their projects are:
"Stop Danger Zone" by Caroline Cubas and Carrington Sydes. Caroline and Carrington investigated a way to alert students at a bus stop of an oncoming car to increase student safety at bus stops.
"Duct Tape vs Masking Tape: Which is Better" by Ethan Petsch. There was great competition between the two tapes in a variety of areas, especially when Ethan wore tape shoes to school.
"Magnetic Force vs Gravity" by Chris Bissette. Can a magnetic force overcome gravity and cause an object to float in air? Chris made It do just that!
We wish all of them the best of luck at Regionals.
