John Champe Knightly News
Edition 10, January 17-28, 2022
Welcome back! Read on for updates taking us through the end of second quarter.
Admin Corner
Monday, January 17: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday (while the weather may prevent acts of service, we challenge you to find a way to serve others this month!)
January 21: Quarter 1 Credit Recovery due
January 28: End of Quarter 2
January 31: Teacher Work Day (no school for students)
February 1: School holiday - Happy Lunar New Year!
Student Punctuality
Please remind your student of the importance of arriving to school and classes on time. The increase in tardiness has prompted additional hall sweeps and consequences. Linked here is the bell schedule, along with the times for 1-hour and 2-hour delays, in the event the future weather events call for such a schedule. As always, if the school is closed, there is no change to the fixed A/B day schedule.
Coaching update:
Please join us in congratulating Mr. Lee Carter as he was selected as Head Football Coach for next year. We are looking forward to extending our tradition of excellence. Please click here for the press release from athletics.
Parking permits:
Students needing to purchase parking permits for the spring semester are able to do that now. Visit the online payment portal here; be sure to select the 2nd semester option from the drop down menu. If the student is purchasing a parking permit for the first time, the student needs to complete the online payment and also visit Ms. Berry in the main office for the parking tag. Please contact Ms. Berry with questions (karen.berry@lcps.org).
MAGIC Makers
At the January faculty meeting, Dr. Shiflett and Mr. Boswell were selected as MAGIC Makers. Thank you to both of these fine educators for their contributions to our school community and congratulations for well-earned recognition.
Behind The Wheel
Students that are ready to start the exciting process of signing up for Behind the Wheel, are in need of a new DEC-8 card, or need access to driving information: please visit the PE/Health school website. From there, you can also access the Schoology course (code: PZPJ-B4BB-N99JQ). This course is where you can access the Behind the Wheel registration forms and request a DEC-8 card.
The DEC-8 card pick up and submission of the paperwork for Behind the Wheel can be done with Ms. Samantha Girardi, School Counseling Secretary.
