Hero Happenings!

Parents - next week we will be taking our state assessment. Each morning we will go to first block, take attendance, and then immediately dismiss to testing locations. The schedule is as follows:

Monday - Reading

Tuesday - Math

Wednesday - English

Thursday - Writing

Friday - Science

Some things you can do to help us this week:

1. Please have your student to school on time. If we have already started testing, your student cannot join the testing session.
2. Please do not check your child out for appointments if at all possible.
3. Students will not be moving around or talking as much during the day, so encourage your child to get out after school and be active!
4. Give your child a great breakfast or get him/her to school in time to enjoy breakfast at school.

Have you ever asked your student how his/her day was and you get one word answers? Use these questions to ask specific questions about the week and get him/her talking!

• Social Studies 7 - What is a Civil War term used to describe PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)? Explain the meaning.
• Social Studies 6 - What are the 3 early civilizations in the Americas?
• Acc. Math 7 - How do you convert repeating decimals to a fraction?
• Science 7 - Based on your understanding of plate tectonics, a volcano would be found at what type of plate boundary.
• Science 6 - What is one thing you learned from the cow eye dissection?
• ELA 6 - What is a counterclaim?

• ELA 7 - What are the 6 different types of nonfiction text structures?

• Math 6 - What is a percent?

• Math 7 - Is a coupon a mark up or a mark down?

• Keycode - How do you use a "backpack" in Scratch coding?

• Art 6 - How do you plan to show a light source in your two point perspective drawing?

• Adv. Art - What is your plan for your upcoming project? Which materials do you plan to use?

• Art 7 - What is the difference between 3 Point Perspective (this year) and 2 Point Perspective (last year)? What is the theme for your 3 Point Perspective Cityscape artwork?

• Stagecraft - What special effects makeup techniques did you use on your final SFX makeup project?

• Language Lab - What is a misplaced or dangling modifier? How do these create miscommunication?

• EAST - What have you done in EAST that could be put on an application?

As we enter into our last week of track before Conference it is important that athletes

communicate with Coaches events they would like to be involved in at Conference on 4/17

and 4/19. We will be taking the best times, heights and distances. We are only able to have 3

athletes and 1 relay team participate for each event (7TH AND 8TH ARE COMBINED).

WE NEED ALL UNIFORMS TURNED IN ASAP. IF YOU ARE A CJHS ATHLETE THAT ISN’T

PARTICIPATING IN CONFERENCE TURN IN YOUR UNIFORM TO ROOM 215. HME ATHLETES

TURN THEM IN TO COACH NICHOLS IN THE GYM AFTER SCHOOL.

● Monday 4/17 - 7th/8th grade Conference meet at Har-Ber High Schools (HBHS). Meet starts

at 3:30. Students will be dismissed after 5th period (CJHS) and 6th period (HMS). If you kept

your uniform please make sure to bring it. Make sure you bring water, a snack or money for

the concession stand. (Everyone wears a CJHS uniform for this meet).

● Tuesday 4/18- Practice after school until 4:30 (HMS) and 5:30 (CJHS) (Potential 9th grade

meet Rogers)

● Wednesday 4/19 - 9th grade Conference meet at Fayetteville Track Complex (by Ramey)

Meet starts at 3:30. Students will be dismissed after C Lunch (CJHS).

● Thursday 4/20 - Turn in uniforms to Coach Emerson, Coach Nichols, or Coach Hays

● Friday 4/21 - Turn in uniforms to Coach Emerson, Coach Nichols, or Coach Hays
