Providence Hall High School
February 10-14th
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
BELL SCHEDULE SURVEY
All three schools are requesting feedback on changes to the bell schedule.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekfOpeCIiYb5rnsbW90Zund1fUVLicGGARovHuXvLU7Vt93A/viewform
This proposed schedule change would have the high school starting at 8:15 and ending at 3:00pm. In order to accommodate this change we would not offer an advisory period next school year.
The high school would also offer a zero period, where students can take classes from 7:25 to 8:10 am. This zero period helps high school students take classes that wouldn't fit in their schedule, get ahead on their graduation progress, have a study hall period, and/or make up credits. Zero period juniors or seniors who are on track for graduation can choose to be released from the last period (with parent permission).
The junior high and elementary school schedules stay relatively the same with 5 minutes added at the JH on Mon-Thur and 10 minutes on Fridays to account for passing time and carpool. The elementary would change 5 minutes on their Friday schedule for carpool.

Our school will be holding 2 open house meetings for prospective students. They are Feb 18th and Mar 3rd at 6:30pm. If you have any families or friends interested in attending Providence Hall, please let them know about these two open house events.

DEBATE
Our school went to the first of three tournaments that select students to compete at nationals for the state of Utah. We had 2 students selected for this prestigious honor: Monique Cauley (took 1st place and was selected) and Tanner Christensen who took 4th place and is the 1st alternate. This is an incredible achievement for our school and continues the success of our debate program. Way to go debate team.
NURSES CORNER
With cold and flu season in full force, we kindly ask that you keep your students at home if they are sick. Please make sure they are 24 hours free of a fever and/or vomiting before allowing them to return to school. We've had quite a few students come to school and then visit the nurse saying they had a fever yesterday or they threw up all day yesterday and they're not feeling well today. It's ok if students have a cough as long as they are diligent about washing their hands and covering their mouths. Coughs can last for weeks and we don't want students missing that much school. Thank you. The Nursing Staff

BACKGROUND SCREENING VOLUNTEERS
Background checks are part of our efforts to keep our schools safe for our students, staff and visitors. Please see instructions below for our background screening process.
The first step in our volunteer application process is completing the background application. Please have all volunteers/chaperones stop by the HR department, located in the High School and complete the BCI form.
The form will have instructions on how to complete this process.
- New volunteer applications are required each calendar year which begins August 1.
- All volunteers/chaperones are required to go to The BCI (Bureau of Criminal Identification) for fingerprinting.
- An email will notify you when the applicant has been approved.
- Completing an application does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program. The BCI (Bureau of Criminal Identification) will be the one to approve or deny the applicant.
Once you have been approved, the school will be notified and your name will be added to the volunteer list.
