Story Walk Kent
November 24-December 27, 2021
A Story Walk is a fun activity where children and families can follow a map through downtown Kent, reading a story in the business windows along the way. It’s a fun way of promoting literacy, physical activity, and community! Grab some snacks along the way, shop, or stop for lunch at one of our local restaurants. This is a great opportunity to get some fresh air and support local business.
In partnership with the Rotary Club of Kent and Talk On Speech-Language Therapy activities will be more accessible to children with varying learning and cognitive abilities.
Featured Book
“Dragon’s Merry Christams” by Dav Pilkey
What to Do
1. Pick up a Story Walk map at Kent Natural Foods Co-Op, 151 E. Main St. or download it HERE.
2. Follow the route, reading the story along the way. (Stop in for treats, beverages and do some shopping!)
3. Read the pages displayed in all 17 business windows, ending the story at Hometown Bank.
4. Bring a warm clothing item to donate at any participating location!

What is Tier Three Support?
PBIS’ framework doesn’t just work with school-wide and targeted supports. It’s also an effective way to address sometimes dangerous, often highly disruptive behaviors creating barriers to learning and excluding students from social settings.
At most schools, there are 1-5% of students for whom Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports have not connected. At Tier 3, these students receive more intensive, individualized support to improve their behavioral and academic outcomes. Tier 3 strategies work for students with developmental disabilities, autism, emotional and behavioral disorders, and students with no diagnostic label at all.
Foundational Systems
Tier 3 practices stem from strong foundations in Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports. With both tiers in place, schools are free to organize individualized teams to support students with more intense needs.
