Student of the Month
Serenity H.
Serenity is always pleasant and kind in class. She works hard and goes above and beyond in her choir groups and choir activities. She was chosen for the NDSU choir festival and participated in several small groups for NDHSAA Vocal contest. Serenity is a great leader and helps her peers when needed.
Lance T.
Lance has been doing a great job at school the last couple of months. He has his sights set on graduation and has been working hard to finish strong. Lance is helpful and treats students and staff with respect.
STATE SPEECH
Nate L. competed at the State B Speech competition in Mandan during the last weekend of April. He placed 2nd in Impromptu and earned a Superior Medal in Radio. Great job Nate!
North Dakota Association of Honor Society
Three students were inducted into the SC chapter of the North Dakota Association of Honor Society. These students were: Fletcher, Michael, & James. Congratulations!
National Technical Honor Society
Olivia T.
On April 26th, Olivia T. was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. She was one of 31 students from the schools that are part of the Southeast Region Career & Technical Centers. Requirements to be eligible: 95% GPA in their career/technical program, 3.5 overall GPA, nominated by program instructor, successfully pass the review process. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Emmett & Addison. They earned a trip to State Music on May 5-6.

FCS Baking & Sewing
A few students attempted to make macaroons for the first time. They are typically quite difficult to get right. The students were pleasantly surprised when their vanilla macaroons turned out to be perfect!
Students are also working on a sewing project.
9th grade Careers
The Careers class has heard from people in the last couple career areas. They are currently working on a Capstone Career Project which they will present during the STEAM Fair on May 5.
Environmental Science Projects
Mr. Askerooth's Environmental Science students have been working on a bird project. They are tasked with finding and providing information about 65 different species. Here is one example from class: a morning dove.
English II Writing Fishbowl
10th-grade students worked on peer-reviewing essays. Each student was given a list of items to check for on another student's paper. It was a lesson in giving constructive criticism and a way for all kids to improve in the writing process.
