Happy Friday FMS friends and family.
Now that we have 7 weeks under our belts, I thought I would put a gentle plug in for the importance of attendance. Research shows that missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to grow as a learner and that being late to school can lead to poor attendance. Additionally, absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Having said this, we appreciate that life often throws curveballs. Deaths in the family, illnesses, appointments, injuries happen to all families. The important thing here is to remember to contact the school. When we do not know the nature of the absence, it is entered as an unexcused absence.

We are partnering with the Bath Area Food Bank to provide families in need with a weekly bag of food. The Backpack Program provides snacks and other convenient items to supplement your food at home. If you would like your child to participate in this program, please call 443-8265 or you can email Sarah DeRosa, our school counselor, at sderosa@rsu1.org.
