Grewenow. We are Great; we are Growing!

Each Gazette, we will share a tip for helping families talk with their students about virtual classroom etiquette. This edition, we review simple ways families can support virtual learning at home.

• Find a dedicated, quiet learning space for live sessions where students can also store materials
• Ensure the learning space is free of TVs, toys, gadgets, etc
• Check in on your child a couple times each day to ensure their focused, participating, and completing learning tasks
• Explain your student that they should treat the virtual classroom as a real classroom. Though the teacher isn't physical present, classroom rules still apply.

For those families who registered for "The Sweet Treat of Read Alouds" event on December 10 from 5:30 - 6:30, cookie decorating materials will be available for pick up on:

• Tuesday December 8 12:00- 3PM
• Wednesday, December 9 7:30AM - 3PM
• Thursday, December 10 7:30AM - 3PM

An email with a link to the live event will be coming to all registered families in the very near future.

A big thank you to the families who participated in this year's virtual Penguin Patch. Orders are currently being processed and will be sent to Grewenow Elementary in the coming days. We will let families know as soon as their items have arrived for pick up at Grewenow.

For families who chose home delivery, Penguin Patch will have gifts sent out via UPS, by December 17th, to ensure delivery before Christmas.

It's just that easy!

Some of the art supplies are in. For all virtual learners and those in-person students didn't bring home their sketchpad, construction paper, and (for grades 3-5 only) a sharpie before Thanksgiving, you can pick those items up along with any other supplies from your student's classroom teacher:

• Thursdays 12:00 - 2:00 and supplies are able to be picked up at the Main Entrance.
• Any day of the school week 7:15AM - 3:00PM, families may call ahead to make arrangements to pick up supplies for their student.
• ***Evening time arrangements can also be made with a call in advance on a limited basis***

Students can use Destiny to place holds on 2 books they would like to check out or use a google form. All tutorial videos and google form links are on the Grewenow Library webpage.

Daily attendance is important for student success and required by law for all grade K-12 students whether they are in-person or virtual!

For all Families All-Virtual period through January 8:

• No student's start and end times to the school day have changed. (Previous) In-person students are marked tardy after 7:25. Virtual students still begin at 8:30

• If your student is trying to login to their live session and they are not successful, please notify your child's teacher or the office as soon as possible. With this communication, and evidence that your child completed assigned work for the day later on, they can still be marked present.

• If your child is having consistent issues joining their live sessions OR only attending a portion, the Grewenow staff will contact your family to find a solution to resolve the problem.
