Mr. Jacob Sudduth
Mr. Sudduth, our new band teacher, is originally from Perry, Michigan, but he has been living in Kentucky for the past fifteen years. He says “I reckon y'all will hear the hillbilly come outta me every now and then, especially when we are having an especially awesome rehearsal and the Dryden Bands are really bringing the energy!”.
He says that he wanted to start working at Dryden because he was instantly charmed by our little town. His favorite thing about Dryden is “My favorite thing about Dryden is being able to see all the students, grades K-12. It is really special because I get to be a part of their music education from the time they enter school to when they graduate”. Mr. Sudduth went to college at Cumberlands University and has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Arts in Teaching Music K-12.
Outside of school, he has mostly been taking care of his newborn baby son, Callum. When he is not busy taking care of his son or working, Mr. Sudduth loves to visit the cinema with friends and family. Right now his favorite movie is the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He loves to listen and play music, His favorite band is CHON and his favorite artist is Dave Brubeck. For all of his students, he says “The hardest part is just starting. Once you take that first step, that momentum can get you going and you can figure out the path along the way. But just sitting around and wondering will get you nowhere. Also, join the Band! We have free t-shirts, we go on field trips, we make lifelong friends, and we have the privilege of learning the craft of playing an instrument. You won't regret it!”
Students Say...
They haven't known him long, but here's what our Dryden High School students had to say about Mr. Sudduth:
Raghan Delong loves how sweet and helpful he is at all times. Raghan’s favorite memory is being in first hour/positivity project with him. The best thing she learned from him is to always look out for others. no matter how bad your day could be.
Another student says “I love that Mr. Sudduth focuses on all aspects of our playing. He brings an excited attitude too.” Her favorite memory with Mr. Sudduth was the first day she played her instrument. She says “The most valuable thing I have learned from Mr. Sudduth is that different breathing gyms can help your playing a lot.”
Kayla B. says Mr. Sudduth's music appreciation class is super good. She says that her favorite memory with him is him teaching the class how to play drums. The most valuable thing Kayla has learned from Mr. Sudduth is about different kinds of musical skills.
Other students have said that they love his passion for music.

Varsity Football
by Penelope Spencer
On the 8th of September, the Dryden varsity football team played Deckerville. The final score of the game was 76-0, the game going to Deckerville. Lead was Sonny Coscoine with 23 receiving yards, good job Sonny! Defense was David Insley with 3 solo tackles and 5 assists, Josh Harris with 2 solo and 5 assists, and Brandon Woolner with 3 solo and 4 assists. Coach Hunter Gall said, “We came into this week knowing that Deckerville was a good team with a long history of success. We made some improvements from last week, although the score does not show it. We are a brand new team, with a lot of young and inexperienced players. We will keep improving, changes will be made, and our kids will keep learning.”
