Friends Josh and Emma haven't seen each other for the past six months. However, after logging on AOL they find Facebook. It's 1996 and Facebook hasn't been invented yet. The more they find out more about the future and themselves the more the future changes. As they realize the consequences of their actions they are on a race to fix what they started in the first place
The most recurring theme so far in this novel is when people get desperate they will do anything to make their current situation better. One example of this is when Emma searches for Jordan Jones Junior in the California Phone book.
