Students will be learn about various pathways for learning beyond high school. Students will learn important college vocabulary.

Extending the Learning at Home: Ask your student to explore a few more college vocabulary terms. Have students complete this college terms word search and ask them to explain each term that they find.

Lesson Focus: Skills and College Exploration

Students will be able to identify their skills and the relation these have to future careers.

Extending the Learning at Home: Explore some additional colleges and careers in Xello. Ask your student to log in to Xello and walk through the different options, paying special attention to whether these are a good fit for the student.

In Demand Local Careers

The demand for Welders is expected to grow by 6.3% by 2024 in Lancaster County. This career requires a certificate or associates degree with an entry salary of $34,160 and a median salary of $44,140 in Lancaster County.

Local Postsecondary Training Option

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology offers a short term training certificate and associates degree in welding. Lancaster CTC also offers a popular full time program for high school graduates.
