Sexual Abuse Prevention Education

Please review the attached Sexual Abuse Prevention Education letter from our school counselors, Jill Shanley and Julie Graessle. Per Missouri law, beginning this school year, our district will provide age- and developmentally- appropriate sexual abuse prevention education to students. The goal of this programming is to keep your children safe and to empower them with tools to respond.

Personal Plans of Study ~ Week of Feb. 8th

Starting the week of February 8th, high school counselors will go into classrooms to assist students in completing their Personal Plan of Study (PPS) in preparation for registration for next year's classes. The following week, students will enter their class choices into PowerSchool. Be on the lookout for your student's PPS so you can discuss their choices.

Class Ring Orders Due ~ Feb. 9th

Jostens visited sophomore students on Thursday and handed out class ring order packets.
Jostens' representatives will return on Tuesday, February 9th, to accept ring orders. Representatives will be available during all lunch shifts as well as 3:00-6:00 p.m. after school.

Spring Sports ~ March 1st

Spring sports begin on March 1st. Blair Oaks offers boys' and girls' track, boys' golf, and baseball for anyone interested. Athletes need to have a physical on file before the first day of practice in order to participate. Any student-athlete who did not participate in a winter sport will be required to practice 14 days prior to the first contest.

With spring sports comes the risk of weather-causing postponements and cancellations of baseball games or track meets. Please follow the school website, Twitter feed, Facebook, and check with your athlete for information regarding cancellations. We are looking forward to a successful spring season on and off the field.

Cost: Blair Oaks School District covered the cost of testing
Make-up tests: There are no make-up tests. Students must be present on March 2nd.

If students wish to sign up for the ACT on one of the national test dates, they must register and pay online at ACTstudent.org.

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is a hilarious farce-meets-murder mystery. The tale begins at a remote mansion, where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party where murder and blackmail are on the menu. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects. Led by the Wadsworth – the butler, Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock and Colonel Mustard race to find the killer as the body count stacks up. Clue is the comedy whodunit that will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out…WHO did it, WHERE, and with WHAT!

Attendance Policy Reminder

Attendance at school is a significant factor in achieving success at school. When a student is absent from class, it is impossible to recreate the situation that existed during the absence. No amount of make-up work can take the place of the classroom. For this reason, it is essential that each student be in class every day possible. Realizing that there are times when a student must miss school, the following procedures will be followed.

Each absence will be labeled, verified, or unverified.

A verified absence is an absence that is justified by official documentation (i.e. doctor, dentist, etc.) or has been approved by the principal.
An unverified absence is any absence that is not supported with official documentation or prior notification to the principal.

Please remember to bring in official documentation when your student is at an appointment.
