GW Becomes a Project Adam School
Congratulations to Grant Wood Elementary staff for training and becoming a designated Project Adam school. #BettPride #BETTerTogether
Project Adam provides free education and planning assistance to parents, administrators, school nurses, athletic trainers, and coaches to prevent sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in children, adolescents, and adults.
Chrissy Block - IA Elem Art Educator of the Year
The Art Educators of Iowa presents Outstanding Art Educator of the Year awards to members of the Iowa Arts Education community who have shown stellar dedication to the craft of teaching art to children. Chrissy Block is the 2023-2024 Outstanding Elementary Art Educator Award recipient. Block is starting her fourteenth year as a K-5 art educator at Neil Armstrong Elementary in the Bettendorf Community School District. She will receive her award at the Art Educators of Iowa Conference on October 14th.

NHS Blood Drive - Tues, Sept. 19
The National Honor Society is holding the first Blood Drive of the school year on September 19th at Bettendorf High School and it is open to the public. We have lots of donor spots open and need your help to save lives! All 16 year olds must have a parent permission slip signed to donate. Please sign up at the following link:

BMS NHD Applebee's Fundraiser - Sept. 19
On Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 11 am to 11 pm, the Davenport Elmore Avenue Applebee’s at 3838 Elmore Avenue will donate 50% of sales from the “TOGETHER WE CARE TUESDAY” menu.

- Classic Bacon Cheeseburger
- Chicken Tenders Platter
- Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad
Please order lunch and/or dinner that day from the menu to help raise funds for the Bettendorf Middle School National History Day program. Order online, through DoorDash, by call (563) 355-9643 for pick up on September 19 or dine-in at the Applebee’s located at 3838 Elmore Avenue.

BHS Homecoming 18th St. Parade - Sept. 21
Mark your calendar for 6 pm on Thursday, Sept. 21. Due to the construction at Middle Park, the BHS Homecoming Parade will start from the 18th St. entrance of Bettendorf Middle School (rather than Middle Park on 23rd St). Check out the map to make your plans!
23-24 School Improvement Advisory Committee
SIAC is a group appointed by the board and made up of members representing students, parents, teachers, administrators, and local community. Its purpose is to enhance the relationship between the district and the community and provides an avenue to get information and identify educational concerns from different perspectives.

On Sept. 26 New York Times bestselling author April Henry is visiting Bettendorf Middle School to share her books and her research process for her stories. Henry is a bestselling author of 26 mysteries and thrillers for teens and adults. She will also be at the Bettendorf Public Library 6 pm on Sept. 28 - Register. BMS student book order form.
Bett Preschool Openings for Four-Year-Olds
If your child will be four years old on or before September 15, we have openings for the 2023-2024 school year. Bettendorf offers preschool on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:45 am - 2 pm. To apply, click HERE.

Safe+Sound Iowa - Safety Reporting
Safe+Sound Iowa is a free anonymous K-12 school safety reporting system to help prevent violence, unlawful possession of weapons, self-harm, and other forms of victimization and threatening behaviors in schools across Iowa. Students, school staff, parents, and concerned community members can report safety concerns three ways:
- Downloading and using the free Safe+Sound Iowa app
- Going to SafeandSoundIowa.gov, or
- Calling 800-224-6018

- BMS Chiller Replacement - A public hearing was held and directors approved the scope of work and proposed budget of $400,000 for the Bettendorf Middle School chiller replacement.
