News for TMS Families Week of October 25, 2021
Principal Updates
Dear Trailside Families,
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we head into the last week of the marking period, we want to make sure that each of our students are having a strong finish. Please check in with your students to make sure all assignments are turned in.
In our efforts to increase parent communication between home and school, we have developed a pathway for parents and/or students to ask questions of our team. If you have questions regarding anything from learning to school process and practices, please click on the following form.
As shared, this form (https://forms.gle/E1JzqWbHTbsgNA4v8)
Thank you for your continued support of our commitment to provide a safe and caring learning environment for our students.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Beichler
Parent Coffee on Tuesday, October 26th
This month, the parent coffee will focus on the return to school and what the first quarter of school has been like for students, parents, teachers, and staff. It will be more of a discussion then a presentation. We will share out some perspectives from teachers, counselors, and administrators. We are hopeful that parents will join us in the conversation. We will share out celebrations as well as challenges and how we can partner together to make this year successful for each student. We will being right at 9:30 am, so please arrive early in order to check in at the main office. We will be meeting in the library. Coffee and pre-packaged snacks will be offered. If you plan to attend, please RSVP at the following link so that we are prepared to accommodate the numbers for spacing and coffee.

IMPACK
The core attributes that we value at TMS are Inclusion, Motivation, Perseverance, Altruism, Compassion, & Kinship! We have a team of teachers dedicated to recognizing students for being AMAZING and demonstrating kindness. If you want to see more about TMS expectations, see the ROCK poster below!
All schools in Loudoun County have the PBIS program (Positive Behavior Intervention System). Since TMS opened, our PBIS program is call IMPACK. Each quarter, teachers select students who have been role models in the core attributes of IMPACK. Our First IMPACK award's ceremony will be on Wednesday, October 27th. Students who have been selected by their team of teachers will receive an invitation to include their family as well. We look forward to this special event and recognizing many of our students. CALLING ALL ARTISTs, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, PHOTOGRAPHERS, WRITERS,.....
Trailside Middle School participates in the National PTA Reflections Program and as parents and guardians, you’re in a great position to encourage your kids to reflect on the theme, create an original work and be recognized. The theme for the 2021 program is "I can change the world by ..." which is such a great theme! Adults can't help the students with entries, but they can ENCOURAGE and SUPPORT them. As a student, thinking about how they can change the world is such a worthy challenge. There are six categories available to choose from (and they can enter more than one) - dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. In an effort to provide an inclusive program, students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 may enter in the Special Artist Division or grade division most closely aligned to their functional abilities.
The PTA website has all of the rules for all of the categories posted here - https://tmspta.ptboard.com/school/cm?mid=4270
Submissions are due 11/5 and instructions are on the Reflections page linked above. Gwen Meehan is the POC and can be reached at reflections@trailsidemiddleschoolpta.org if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for supporting our students and their expression of ideas through the arts!!!
