Moving forward
~
"If you can't fly then run.
If you can't run then walk.
If you can't walk then crawl.
But whatever you do,
you have to keep
moving forward."
-MLK JR.
Organize your week: Begin each week with a notebook and on the first page of that week, develop a calendar schedule with a to-do list for each day. Then start each day with a "notes" page-- write down your notes throughout the day on that page. Create a list on this page of to-dos for that day and check them off as you go.
Chunk your work: Is all of your work due on Friday? Maybe it makes sense for you to take on a subject a day with an attendance check in for each day? Maybe you need to take your larger projects and figure out what you need to do each day to accomplish them? Use your to-do lists to break out your work for each day.
Communicate clearly and often: Connection is so important, friends. Check in with your friends, with your relatives, with your teachers, with your neighbors. If you have a question about your class work, ask it. If you are wondering how someone is, reach out. Who did you normally eat lunch with? Schedule lunch zooms with them to re-create that time.
Set a consistent sleep and wake time: Some students have been finding that their biological clock is out of wack-- that they are staying up much much later than normal and sleeping much much later than normal. Is your schedule not working for you? Consider setting consistent sleep and wake times to make the most of your day and create more "normalcy" in your life.
Walk away from the screens: Take a break from the phone, from your social media feeds, from the computer. Try to get outside at least once a day. Go for a walk, do some physical activity, take a book outside and lay in the sun and read.
