November Newsletter
Message from Lyman Adminstrators
Hello Everyone! As you will see from this newsletter the Lyman Community has been busy and working hard! We wanted to take a moment to wish all of the members in and outside of the Lyman Community a Happy Thanksgiving! One of the things we are most grateful for is all of the support and involvement from all of you in our school. Lyman is such a great place for our students, faculty and staff because of everything you do! We hope that in the coming weeks you all get to spend some time with your families and stay healthy! Please always feel free to contact us with anything you need.

Assistant Principal Singleton: Samantha.singleton@lebanonct.org
Thank You Officer Slonski
The School Improvement Organized for PAWS rooms to show their appreciation for Officer Slonski by writing Thank You cards. Officer Slonski is a consistent face our students see around the Lyman Community. He is involved in many things including counseling students, running two clubs, assisting with lessons in the classroom and helping out the Lyman Administration. We are very thankful for all the hard work Officer Slonski does for our schools.
Officer Slonski wants to remind everyone to be safe in our parking lots, please adhere to the speed limit, make sure to stop at the stop sign and watch for pedestrians.

ASTE Department
- Counselors will be going into Freshman English classes during the week of November 14th to administer inventories through the HumanEsources program. Students will take Achieveworks Skills which will highlight skills identified for academic and employment success and generate a list of careers that match their skills . This tool can help students begin thinking about post secondary options as well as possible college majors. They will also take Achieveworks Learning & Productivity which will identify specific learning styles that work best for each student. This learning style inventory is an exercise in self reflection and can help students learn more about the environments and circumstances in which they learn best. Counselors will follow up with individual student meetings.
- Seniors applying to UCONN can do so without paying an application fee if they apply on November 15th, which is the school's application free day.
- Southern CT State University will also allow applicants to apply for free from Nov 15 to Nov 30.
- The state of Connecticut recently passed a new law (CAAP) that guarantees automatic admission to participating CT colleges and universities for select high school students that meet specific grade criteria. Students that qualify for the CAAP program have received an email with more information. The email covers the program details and the specific criteria required to be included in the program. A copy of this letter will also be mailed home to parents. Students participating in the CAAP program will be required to upload the letter when they apply. Please reach out to your counselor with any questions.
- The Dual Enrollment Application for Three Rivers Community College Spring 2023 is open! As a reminder, students who are interested in taking college classes during their junior or senior year need a minimum 2.7 GPA, an up-to-date transcript, and counselor and parent approval attached to their completed online application. Interested students, please see your counselor for more information.
- Seniors and their parents please reach out to counselors with any questions about the college application process.
