October certainly highlighted the partnership between families and the school. From VIP Day to Book Fair, Moments with Mom, and Parent-Teacher conferences, we can not thank you enough for your support and attendance at these events. It is a privilege to meet you and see your love for your students firsthand.

Indiana Code 20-35.5 requires all Indiana schools to screen students in grades K-2 for learning characteristics related to dyslexia. In September, students in grades K,1, and 2 took a universal dyslexia screener. Parent letters were sent home if the screener showed an area of concern. If you did not receive a letter, then there are no areas of concern at this time. However, if you have any questions or concerns regarding this screener's results, please contact Shelby McDonald, Dyslexia Specialist for AC, at mcdonalds@accs.k12.in.us or by phone (260)692-6629 ext. 1207.

It's not uncommon for elementary students to have spills and accidents which require a change of clothing. The Nurses' Office loans items out as needed, however, please be sure to wash and return clothing items as soon as possible.

Nurse Donna will gladly accept new or gently used shirts, pants, and underwear for both boys and girls to ensure that items are available and appropriate for the season.

• Each student is allowed 5 absences per semester without documentation
• After these 5 absences will be counted as unexcused without documentation (Doctor notes, obituary notices, etc.)
• Students accumulating more than 6 unexcused absences will be reported to the Prosecutor's office.
• Students will be given an additional 5 days at the beginning of the 2nd semester; however, unexcused absences continue to accrue.

Upon approval, the United Way/Salvation Army will send a group letter to your address provided, which states acceptance, present pick up, and other details. All applications are due by December 12, 2022. No late applications will be accepted.

The elementary lost and found is overflowing. Please stop by and take a peek or encourage your child to look for lost items. All Items are cleaned out quarterly, so we will donate items to local ministries at the end of the day Monday, Nov. 7.

HA students are receiving challenges and enrichment within the classroom. AIR time (Acceleration, Intervention, Remediation) was implemented this year as a daily 30-minute block in which teachers can service students at their point of need. During this time, students are provided with enrichment instruction and practice.

We are continuing to post for a high ability teacher.
