Hello Conlee Families,
We are excited to add some additional tutoring opportunities for your child/children this school year. As many of you know, we provide tutoring, also called interventions, for our students in Math and Reading to make sure our little ones are growing academically and increasing their grades and common core state standards proficiency levels. Students are chosen by data. This means that students who are not getting a certain concept in Math or Reading in a particular lesson are provided with help. Some students may be lacking certain skill or need repetition on some skills to understand a concept. We are here to support them with that.
This semester, we were fortunate to be able to provide social emotional tutors to work with our little ones. Since the Covid pandemic, we have seen a number of students who need tutoring in the area of self regulation and socialization. It has not only increased at Conlee but it has increased nation wide. What is social emotional tutoring through social emotional learning? Social and emotional tutoring (SEL) is a process that our tutors teach students how to develop the fundamental skills for life effectiveness in 5 domains.
-Self Awareness
-Self Management
-Responsible decision making
-Relationship Skills
-Social Awareness
SEL tutors assist students on understanding that we all need to handle ourselves, our relationships, and our work effectively and ethically.
Just as we are using data to choose the students we are working with in Math and Reading, we are also using teacher data based on interactions in the classroom or in the playground, and even data from parents who feel their child/children need coping skills or skills to help with anxiety or anything that may affect the student in the classroom. This is not a program to assess students or to provide therapy. These are tutoring sessions that help support student's needs. Below are the tutors who have started working with our students.

Estamos emocionados de informarles que hemos agregado tutores nuevos a nuestro equipo. Como ustedes ya saben, siempre hemos ofrecido tutoría o intervenciones para los estudiantes que necesitan ayuda en matemáticas o lectura. Estos servicios ayudan a que los estudiantes avancen en estas materias y tengan mejores resultados en los exámenes aplicados, ya sea por sus maestros o los que son requeridos por el estado. Los estudiantes que reciben tutoría o intervenciones se escogen de acuerdo con los datos proporcionados. Esto significa que los estudiantes que no están comprendiendo algún concepto en matemáticas o lectura reciben ayuda extra. Hay estudiantes que no tienen habilidades que les ayudan a comprender las lecciones o necesitan ejercicios de repetición. Queremos hacerles saber que estamos aquí para apoyarlos.
Hemos sido muy afortunados de poder contar con más tutores este semestre. Ahora contamos con tutores socioemocionales que estarán trabajando con nuestros niños. Después de la pandemia de COVID, notamos que había una gran cantidad de estudiantes que necesitaban ayudan con la socialización y concientización propia. Estos incrementos fueron notados no solo en Conlee, sino nacionalmente también. ¿Qué es la tutoría socioemocional para el aprendizaje? La tutoría socioemocional (SEL) es un proceso en el cual los estudiantes aprenden habilidades que son fundamentales en la vida. Son 5 dominios con los cuales estarán trabajando:
-Concientización propia
-Control propio
-Como tomar decisiones con responsabilidad
-Habilidades para relaciones sociales
-Concientización social
Los tutores socioemocionales (SEL) ayudan a que los estudiantes tendrán una mejor comprensión de como conllevar las relaciones, el trabajo y su persona con mejor efectividad y ética.
Así como estamos usando datos académicos para la tutoría de matemáticas y lectura, también usamos datos proporcionados por los maestros. No nada más los maestros proporcionan datos sobre como los estudiantes interactúan en el salón y en el recreo, sino también usamos los datos que los mismos padres de familia nos proveen cuando algún estudiante tiene problemas para controlar, por ejemplo, la ansiedad, o tienen algún otro problema que este afectando su participación en el salón. Este no es un programa para evaluar o dar terapia a los estudiantes, son solamente sesiones que apoyan las necesidades de los estudiantes. Abajo encontraran el nombre de las tutoras que actualmente están trabajando con los estudiantes.
