ID Weekly Reminder

ID MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I announce this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you cannot find yours please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classrooms, or hanging in the front of the school service window to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure so we can quickly see who belongs and who does not on campus.

The Lariettes & Belles are looking for well-rounded dancers who are committed to their passion for dance while representing our longhorn community. We want confident, talented, dedicated, humble, respectful and enthusiastic young people to join our dance family. Dance team members are responsible for positively representing George Ranch High School on the field, stage, competition floor, classroom, and other various platforms. Being a member of our program requires an extraordinary work ethic but comes with several once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

We will be holding elections for ALL positions on the Executive Board at the General Meeting for members in April.

One more time...for the students that might have missed it in my last newsletter! We STILL have some students that are not following my expectations, parents please speak to your student, this is not optional. Spring has sprung, which means the weather is starting to warm up at least every other day! Gotta love Texas weather! This is also a time that dress code needs to be revisited. Make sure you are following it. I have included it below again.

• Current GRHS ID's on the second you walk through our doors.
• Shorts must have at least a 3 inch inseam which means I can EASILY see them well below the bottom of your t-shirt/sweatshirt.
• There should be NO visible mid-drift (skin) showing between your tops and your bottoms. Just wearing a jacket (that is wide open is not acceptable). Zip it up ALL DAY or wear a longer shirt please! Thanks!

• Correct IDs on at all times when you enter our building.
• Your words matter...make sure what is coming out of your mouth is helpful, productive, and appropriate. You have all signed off on the student code of conduct in your beginning of year forms.
• Do not open exterior doors for ANYONE (even if you know them) - if it is locked, they must walk around and check in through the front office. There are signs posted on the door...follow them please.
• ATTENTION STUDENT DRIVERS - Please stay in your lane when entering and exiting the parking lots. Be patient, and wait your turn by alternating who pulls out next. Student driving and parking at the Ranch are just that...a privilege...not a right. There will be no more warnings, just the consequence of losing the right to drive/park at the Ranch.
• PARENTS DROPPING OFF/PICKING UP STUDENTS: Please make sure you are in a spot and NOT blocking any driveway areas so that people can get in and out of the parking lot. You cannot block any parking spaces, as this causes my staff to not be able to park, get in the building, and be on duty. Thanks!

ATTENTION CLASS OF ’23 PARENTS/GUARDIANS! We’re happy to announce that we’ve increased the size of our 2023 Legacy Yearbook--adding 8 additional pages--giving parents/guardians of our graduates the additional space in which to place a Senior Tribute Ad! Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. With this ID our GRHS students are able to ride the bus, purchase breakfast/lunch, check out library books, able to use their personal devices (phones/airpods, etc) during lunch and advisory.

Refusing to wear your ID visibly on the top half of your body, is not an option, and will result in the consequences stated on the consequence chart below. Please make sure you are wearing your OWN ID.

Every GRHS student has been gifted an ID, protective plastic cover, and lanyard. It is imperative that our Longhorns adhere to this expectation, as this is part of the daily dress code for staff and students. If you need another badge or lose this one there is a $5 replacement cost. This is NOT optional, it is part of dress code. You can pay by cash or it will be charged to your student library account, for EACH replacement you need. Please note that a hold will be placed on your semester grades, transcripts, and final exemptions if this fine is not cleared.

If you are needing to PURCHASE ANOTHER student ID, please use the QR code (above) to request one. You can either pay $5 cash when you pick it up, or we will charge your school library account if you do not have cash. Emails will be sent in Skyward to parent and student emails each time you are charged.

GR Varsity Softball wraps up tournament play with a win over Sweeny and a loss to Huntsville on Saturday. Ready to rest up and focus on district. JV and Varsity both fell to Ridge Point on Friday. Tough week, but great opportunities to see movement in the lineup and adjustments all around. Proud of our girls for continuing to work hard after three long weeks of ball. District play continues this week at Bush Tuesday. JV travels to Wharton for their JV tournament and the week wraps up at home vs. Hightower on Friday 3/10.

The JV Longhorns Baseball Team took on the Elkins Knights in their first game on Friday. The Horns won the contest 11-1 behind a 7 strikeout performance by David Austin. Offensively Jaden Mays, Trent Argo and Brady Payne all had 2 hits. The Horns will take on the Pearland Oilers in game two of their Friday slate.

In their second game of the day, The Longhorns JV Baseball Team took on Thompkins HS. The Horns made a valiant effort and clawed their way back into the game after being down early. The Horns won the contest 7-6 with stand out performances on the mound from Herman Hernandez and Will Mitchell.

The Longhorns JV Baseball Team was looking to collect their 4th win in as many games Friday against the Pearland Oilers. The Horns avenged an early season loss with an impressive 9-3 win. Starter TJ Downey pitched 4 solid innings only allowing two earned runs. Greyson Reynolds came on in relief and pitched two innings with 3 strikeouts. Offensively, Hunter Walters had a triple and Trent Argo had two RBI’s. Kyle Giries made the play of the day out in left field with an amazing diving grab.

On Thursday night, the freshman and JV boys track and field teams participated in both the Elkins Knights and Foster Falcons Relays. With only a few athletes attending the Foster meet, the athletes that went competed well and had quite a few Personal Records set. At Elkins, both the freshman and JV boys teams won the meet overall. For the freshmen: Kaizer Ifeanyi finished 1st in the 200, Ethan Spaulding finished 2nd in the 800, Joshua Deleon won the 1600 and finished 2nd in the 3200 while Nathan Scott finished 3rd, Charles Weaver finished 3rd in both the 110 and 300m hurdles, the 4x2 team (Michael Wobbe, Vance Raval, Hayden Drinkard, and Kaizer Ifeanyi) finished 2nd, while the 4x4 team (Michael Wobbe, Brady Howell, Ethan Spaulding, and Tony Williams) finished 3rd. In the field events, Hayden Drinkard finished 2nd in the Long Jump, Vance Raval finished 3rd in the Triple Jump while Tony Williams won it, Zach Grafe and Cade Marino tied for 2nd in the High Jump, while Spencer Yax and Josiah Johnson finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the pole vault.

For the boys JV team that finished 1st place: Kevant Jackson finished 3rd in the 100, Gilford Jackson finished 1st in the 200 while Brandon Everett finished 3rd, Aidan Buford finished 2nd in the 400 while Sheldon Goodman was 3rd, Justice Omorayi finished 1st in the 800 while Adrian Agadah took 2nd, Gian Alda finished 1st in the 3200 while James Keenan was 3rd, Hagan Lineburger won the 300 hurdles and placed 3rd in the 110s, JP Montez placed 2nd in the 300 hurdles, the 4x1 team (Gilford Jackson, Anthony Lenette, Brandon Everett, and Jaden Shelton) finished 2nd, the 4x2 team (Jaden Shelton, Gilford Jackson, Anthony Lenette, and Kevant Jackson) finished 1st, while the 4x4 team (Aidan Buford, Anthony Lenetter, Justice Omorayi, and Adrian Agadah) finished 1st. In the field events, Kurveon McNeil placed 2nd in the Triple Jump, and the Longhorns went 1-2-3 in the pole vault with Michael Simone, Carson Lee, and Ben Nicholie finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

Junior Varsity

The JV Longhorn Tennis Team competed at the Wharton Tournament on 2/28. The team competed really well and brough home first place in all ten divisions. In A Girls Singles, Hannah Pham, defeated players from Needville, Sweeny, and Wharton. In A Boys Singles, Matthew Rose beat players from Needville, Randle, and Wharton. In B Girls Singles, Hala Khan took down players from Angleton, Sweeny, Boling, and Wharton. In B Boys Singles, Haaris Manesia defeated players from Calhoun, Sweeny, Wharton, and Needville. Freshman, Lily Sams and Victoria Chaveleh competed in the A Girls Doubles division and beat players from East Bernard, Needville, and Terry. In A Boys Doubles, Ben Nicholie and Jonathan Mai took down players from Stafford and Needville. In B Girls Doubles, sophomores, Edie Oestreich and Scotlyn Thiel defeated players from Iowa Colony, Brazosport, Boling, and Wharton. In B Boys Doubles, John Hunt and Brayden Flores beat players from Terry. In A Mixed Doubles, freshman duo of Matias Farish and Erika Gonzalez took down players from Stafford, Randle, and Boling. In B Mixed Doubles, Grant Keefe and Lilly Mitchell defeated players from Boling, Terry, and Iowa Colony. The team looks forward to competing in Katy next Tuesday 3/7.

Varsity

The Varsity Longhorn Tennis Team competed at the Katy Tournament on 3/3. Dynamic duo of Addison Powell and Avery Knight earned first place in the A-4 Girls Doubles division. They defeated players from Katy, Cy-Fair, and Grand Oaks. In A-4 Boys Doubles, Zayne Smith and Christian Le earned second place. These junior boys took down talented players from Cy-Fair and Stratford before falling short against a solid Clear Springs team. The following players earned third place in their division: Michael Pearson in A-4 Boys Singles, Bryson Vyvial in B-4 Boys Singles, Claire Schilling in A-3 Girls Singles, Zia Osman and Maddie Sams in A-3 Girls Doubles, Hayden Gazaway and Lainey Ingelmo in B-1 Mixed Doubles. The team looks forward to play in the Lone Star Showdown on Friday 3/10.

Congratulations to Bryson Vyvial, Christian Le, Addison Powell, Solana Argao, Avery Knight, Claire Schilling, Hayden Gazaway, and Zayne Smith for earning their letter jacket for tennis.

Boys Varsity soccer defeated Hightower 2-1 on Saturday. Tobias Herrera scored both goals. He leads the district in scoring. The Longhorns can clinch a playoff berth on Tuesday with a win or tie against Dulles.

The girls soccer team competed Wednesday night against the Bush Lady Broncos. This game was dedicated to the Class of 2023 and their families as they took on FB Bush. JV started the night off right winning 4-1. The varsity team played in a very competitive game but came away with a 2-0 victory with goals from Jessica Moffett and Krystin Moore. Thank you Kylie Marteeny, Emma Garza, Annie Schoditsch, Kelly Powell, Marlee Mendoza, and Laila McCloud for all you have done for our program!
