October Meeting Minutes
On Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 3p.m. Vice President Lynne Corn called the meeting of the National Capital Bearded Collie Club to order.
In attendance were the following “active members”: Lynne Corn, Lucy Campbell, “social members”: Judith Loranger, Rick Loranger, “applicants” Tom Dixon, Martha Kumar, Bill Wisniewski, and Jennifer Strand. Lacking a quorum (4 active members required), no business could be conducted.
An application for membership was received from Bill Wisniewski and Jennifer Strand. The bounce at Lynne’s house is their second event attended. They had previously attended the 8 Chains Winery gathering in September.
Lynne led a discussion of potential future meeting topics. The following were suggested: an intro to agility session; how to care for the geriatric dog, an intro to Rally, and a Nosework event. Lynne offered to investigate whether a Click Above, Leesburg, VA, would be able to host the NCBCC for a potential December event, given the cancellation of the Alexandria, VA Christmas Walk.
The membership was reminded of the November 14, 2020 annual meeting, to be held at Keepstone Farm, 412 Russell Road, Berryville, VA . The annual meeting shall be held at approximately Noon time, or at the conclusion of the Beardie testing within the AKC Herding Instinct Test. The Club is sponsoring an AKC Instinct Test open to all Herding eligible breeds and a Bearded Collie Club of America Instinct test at the Farm on the 14th. Susan Rhoades will be judging.
It was suggested that the Club investigate the ability to host Board and/or General Membership meetings via Zoom or similar technology.
There being no further items to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at approximately 4:15 p.m.
Thanks are extended to Lynne for hosting the Club and for providing the Boeuf Bourguignonne that was the main culinary event !
Respectfully submitted,
Lucy C. Campbell
