New Gooding Fire Chief
The Gooding Fire District is pleased to announce the hiring of a new Fire Chief. We had seven qualified applicants vying for the position, and after reviewing references and conducting interviews, we can announce the best choice came from right inside the department. Steven Bishop has agreed to take the advancement and be the new leader. With his institutional knowledge and love of the department we expect this transition to be very smooth.
Congratulations on the promotion, Chief Bishop!
Steven was born and raised into the Gooding Fire Department family and grew up in the old firehouse. He has a passion and a love for firefighting. He has been with the Gooding Fire Department for 20 years and has earned Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Firefighter and Firefighter of the Year awards.
Steven lives in Gooding with his wife, Melody. Together they have a son, Cam, who is 8 years old. In Steven's free time he loves to be outdoors on his side by side or spending time in the mountains at the family cabin and watching sports.

Message from Mayor Diane Houser
The 2023 Gooding County Fair and Parade were a great success this year! Thank you again to Don Gill, Jamie Lancaster and Amy Andrus for all the hard work they put into making this event as wonderful as it is. I would also like to thank the Gooding Police Department and the Gooding County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work during fair week and our Public Works crew for cleaning the streets before and after the parade. This event wouldn’t be what it is without all of them and all of you.
School is back in session for most of our kids. Please be careful while driving in the early morning and evening hours. Kids are walking or crossing the streets and loading/unloading from the school bus.
The weather will be turning colder, and leaves will begin to fall. Leaves can be taken to our Tree & Brush Yard. Remember that if you bag your leaves, empty the leaves from the bags. Bags can be placed in the garbage can at the Yard or you can take them home to reuse them. We cannot accept bagged leaves.
City Hall will be closed on September 4th to celebrate Labor Day. We hope you all enjoy the holiday and please be safe.
Have a wonderful September!
Diane Houser, Mayor
