Writing Celebration Winners

Congratulations to the following students who were selected as their grade level's top writers this year. They were honored at a special district-wide Writing Celebration this past Wednesday.

Accelerated Reader Achievement

This past Friday, we honored several students who have achieved amazing success in our school's Accelerated Reader (A.R.) program. Congratulations to the following students who have earned an incredible amount of A.R. points throughout their time here at Bernardo:

Emerson C. (Mr. Erickson's class) - 1,500 points
Blake M. (Mr. Oden's class) - 750 points
Bobby P. (Mr. Erdos' class) - 750 points
Andrew R. (Mr. Erdos' class) - 750 points

In the coming weeks, we'll be honoring many students who have reached 250 and 500 AR points.

Bernardo Teacher of the Year

Each year, Bernardo School selects two teachers of the year (one in the Winter and one in the Spring) to recognize and celebrate their amazing work for our students and families.

Our Teacher of the Year this Winter is Mrs. Christina Vernon!

Mrs. Vernon is an incredibly dedicated teacher who works extremely hard to make learning meaningful and memorable for every student in her class. She spends countless hours each week preparing lessons, delivering engaging instruction, and collaborating with staff and families to ensure her students are experiencing as much success as possible. She even spends hours after school to provide home support to a student in her class who has been facing severe health challenges.

If you're wondering why she's holding a plant in this photo, we have a tradition as a staff to give our employees of the year a plant that they can keep at home as a memento of their accomplishment.

No School on 2/17 & 2/20

In honor of Presidents Day Weekend, there will be no school this Friday, February 17 and Monday, February 20.

Boosterthon Fun Run/Obstacle Challenge Coming Soon

We are excited about our upcoming Fun Run fund-raiser. On Thursday, March 9, we invite our families to come out and cheer the students on. We'll share out the specific grade level times in the coming weeks as well as ways that families can register and begin gathering pledges for this fun event. Mark your calendars now!
