Open House
Please mark your calendars for our Open House/Curriculum Nights:
- Grades 5 & 6- Thursday, September 23 at 6pm
- Grades 7 & 8- Thursday, September 30 at 6pm
These nights are focused on giving parents information on the curriculum their children will be working on throughout the year as well as outlining each teacher's expectations. Please note all CPS schools are asking that only one parent attend Open House/Curriculum Night to keep the numbers of people in the building and in each classroom at a reasonable number. If two parents attended, we would have double the number of students that are in each class. Thanks in advance of your cooperation.
School Hours
The school day runs from 8:19AM - 2:40PM.
- Start/End Times: Students will be allowed to enter the school at 8:09am with HR beginning at 8:19. Our dismissal time is 2:40pm. We will continue to maintain a safe, staggered dismissal allowing for less-crowded hallways and ample time for students to board the buses or get picked up.
Mccarthy / Parker Cross Country Running Team
McCarthy / Parker Cross Country Running Team

Students of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Runners of all abilities are encouraged to attend meets, although races are never mandatory. All runners are responsible for their own transportation to and from practices and meets. More detailed information about each week’s events will be posted to the Google Classroom (class code: sxookzi). Attendance
Attendance Policy
If your child will be absent from class , tardy or dismissed from classes, please provide a note to the main office to explain tardy or dismissal. Please call us at 251-5122 and select option 1 or email us at mccarthy_attendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us to report your child .
School starts at 8:19 am , all students must be in their seat in Homeroom at this time.
Lunch
Lunch: The Federal Lunch Program will continue this school year. This means that all students will continue to receive a free lunch daily if they wish. Additionally, we will have a "grab-and-go" breakfast cart at four corners where students can grab a breakfast item and go to homeroom. The breakfast is also free this year.
Students will eat in the cafeteria. We will have additional seating options for students who feel more comfortable being distanced. We will also allow students to eat outside on days when the weather cooperates.
Helpful Information
2021-2022 School Year
Masks: All people must wear masks while inside the school and while on buses. Students will only be allowed to unmask while eating, while participating in any outdoor activity or on a designated mask break. Mask breaks will primarily be done outside, weather permitting.
Hand Hygiene: Like last year, hand sanitizer will be at every classroom entrance with the expectation students are sanitizing every time they enter a classroom.
Lockers: Similar to last year, both middle schools have made the decision to begin the year not using lockers. This will help keep students distanced and also help with traffic flow in the hallways.
Building Flow/Traffic Patterns: We will continue to maintain the traffic patterns we established last year with certain hallways being one-way during the school day.
