During the spring of 2013, RCPS tested a new notification system for emergencies and weather-related school closings or delays. Based on our experience during this test, we decided to transition our notifications to this new system permanently. This system will give us an opportunity to fine-tune our notifications as needed and use automated phone calls, e-mails, and text messages as notification methods.

• Student contact information will be uploaded directly from our student information system (PowerSchool), and parents/guardians will be able to manage their preferences in their PowerSchool parent portal.
• Staff notification information is loaded based on information collected by school administrators.
• If you do not have a student in Rockingham County Public Schools and are not an RCPS staff member, you can provide us with your notification information by completing a simple online form.
• If you want your student to receive a text message as well, please add the student's cell phone number as one of your parent/guardian notification entries. Students may register for delays and cancellation messages also by following the link for the general public.
