Legislative Education Advocacy Day

Register now for the 2017 Legislative Education & Advocacy Event sponsored by Iowa's Area Education Agencies and School Administrators of Iowa! This event will bring together school administrators from across Iowa to learn the most up-to-date legislative insight, and meet with legislators face-to-face at the Capitol.

4:30 p.m. Ryan Wise - Every Student Succeeds Act

5:30 p.m. Legislative update & preparation with education lobbyists Tom Narak, Margaret Buckton, Emily Piper, and Tom Lane. Moderated by Brent Siegrist.

6:30 p.m.

Dinner on your own. A list of restaurants is available here. Your AEA chief administrator may also be making arrangements for the superintendents in your AEA.

Thursday, Feb. 2 - Iowa State Capitol

7:30-9 a.m.

Meet legislators at the Capitol in Room 116 followed by lobbying in the rotunda if desired. Individual meetings with legislators may also be arranged.

A block of rooms is available at the Holiday Inn Des Moines - Airport Conference Center for $85/night plus taxes. Reservations must be made by Jan. 16, 2017 by calling 515-287-2400. Please ask for AEA Legislative Event to ensure you get the special negotiated rate. (Districts are responsible for paying for their own rooms.)
