CHEER PREVIEW
As a year-round sport, this has been a very busy summer for cheer. Between practices, camp, and working our firework stands, our athletes have been working tirelessly. We also host and help with camp for our middle school cheerleaders as well as help Mustang Youth Football and Cheer with a two day clinic for their upcoming season. Our coaching staff remains the same as last year and consists of Caitlin Walker, James Foreman, Aubrey Payne, and Payton Lewis; we feel that this consistency will help promote a successful year for us. Our team has seen the most change in probably 15 years. Last year we began competing in the middle schools, and that has brought us many new faces as we had over 50 athletes try out at the high school. Our program consists of 35 athletes; 18 of these athletes are brand new to us while 17 of them have been with us for at least a year. We’re incredibly excited for these new additions, and they have added some extraordinary talent. We have five seniors this year; three of them are returning athletes, and two are new to the program. They all have unique personalities and styles which provide exceptional leadership for the younger members of our team. To say that we are confident about this season would be a significant understatement. With the combined talent of our rookies and veterans, we feel optimistic about our chances to place top five at every competition and be a contender for a state championship.

BRONCO FOOTBALL REVIEW
The Bronco Football Program had a great summer! The players got stronger and are excited to start the season! Bring Out the Broncos was a huge event for the program and it was really cool to see the community and district there showing support for all of our football programs - youth though high school. We have a lot of returners coming back on both sides of the ball. The key spot of youth is the offensive line. We graduated 4 SR’s from the 2021 team. Coach Blankenship had this to say about the season, "We expect to make a big run and make our community proud on and off of the field."

FAST PITCH SOFTBALL PREVIEW
We continued to implement Crossfit workouts into our pre-season schedule and it is paying off. We have six returning starters from last season. We have 6 seniors, 10 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 16 freshmen. We expect our seniors to lead the charge this season. This is their 3rd season with this coaching staff, and they know what our expectations are. They've done a great job of leading this summer. With so many underclassmen on the team, it's been really important that they take the underclassmen under their wings and show them the way. I feel like they've really embraced that. Our young players are talented, and we expect big things from them over the next few years. Our goal is to make it to the final game on October 15th and win it all. We've gone one round further the last two seasons, so it's time to make that final game on championship Saturday.

Here's some info from Coach Newman:
Over the summer we had over 30 girls participate in summer pride. We had 12 girls awarded Character Leaders of the week in Summer Pride. We took our entire program out to Turner Falls for team bonding.
In our home opener Monday night all 3 teams won! There was a great crowd and we sure appreciated the energy they brought! We have 4 returning starters this year. Erin Mack, Mikayla Eagle, Grace White Tatum Spencer. The expectation for our entire team is set high. Here are a few of them:
- The team comes first, always and no matter what.
- Be Coachable
- Work hard and do the right thing, even when on one is watching
- Be a Good Teammate
- Make those around you better
- Be the kind of teammate that you would want to play next to
- Display good character and values on and off the court
- Hold one another accountable to program and team policies and expectations
- Give 100% effort at all times
We have started this year out by putting in championship work. Our first goal is to compete with maximum effort in every practice and competition that we have the blessing to participate in. Hosting our own Regional and going to the State Tournament are two of our goals that will put us in position to win our first state champion ship since the 80’s.We want our seniors to lead by example and when they graduate, they are proud and excited with what they helped build and the legacy they leave behind here at Mustang High School.
