Athletic Update
Athletic Website
Spring Sports Begin February 26
February 26th is the first allowable practice for spring sports. Blair Oaks offers boys' and girls' track, boys' golf, and baseball for anyone interested.
Student athletes will need to have a physical on file before the first day of practice in order to participate. Any physical that is administered after February 1st will be good for the remainder of this year as well as the entire 2018-19 school year. Any student athlete who did not participate in basketball or wrestling will be required to practice 14 days prior to the first contest.
With spring sports comes the risk of weather-causing postponements and cancellations of ball games or track meets. Please follow the school website, Twitter feed, and Facebook for information regarding cancellations. We also encourage our athletes to reach out to parents with cancellation information.
We are looking forward to a successful spring season on and off the fields.

Make-Up Day ... April 3rd
This is our weather make-up day.
Testing for Juniors
The state of Missouri cut funding and will not pay for juniors to take the ACT test this year. However, the Blair Oaks R-II School District wants to ensure all students take the tests necessary to prepare them for their post-secondary plans. Therefore, Blair Oaks High School will be offering the opportunity for each junior to take the ACT Test, ACT Work Keys Test, or ASVAB Test. The district will pay the cost for one test.
- Students filled out a Google form indicating which test or tests they wanted to take.
Sign-ups for all three tests will be taken care of during the school day.
Please check with your student to see what they chose.
All tests will be administered at Blair Oaks High School
- April 3rd - Date for the ACT and ACT Work Keys Tests
Students will sign up and designate where to send scores during English III classes.
Important: Students can NOT register on the ACT website for the April 3rd test date if participating in this free offering.
- April 10th - Date for the ASVAB Test
Since the ASVAB Test is free, students may take it in addition to one other test.
The ACT is the nation’s most popular college entrance exam so should be the choice for students planning on attending post-secondary education. It is based on what students learn in high school and provides personalized information about their strengths for education and career planning.
2. ACT Work Keys Test
The ACT Work Keys measures foundational skills required for success in the workplace and students have the potential to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate that is recognized by many employers. The Work Keys would be a good choice for students who plan to enter the workforce after high school.
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is the test used by the military so students interested in a career in the military should take it. ASVAB also has a career exploration program that may help students determine their skills/interests and what careers may be a good fit. It may a useful tool for students who are unsure of their career path.
