Calling All (Board) Gamers!
Oak Grove is happy to announce a new club for the upcoming winter months. Do you love board games, Majik the Gathering, and Pokemon? Then this group is for you. Meet with other interested students after school for some game playing fun!
Bring an after school snack and any gaming items from home you would like to use each meeting. We will meet for a snack and a chat in a classroom, then move to the junior high library to spread out at the tables until pick up time at 4:30 (in the upper parking lot).
Group 1: Grades 5-8 (sponsor: Ms. Douglass) will meet in room 108 in the 6th grade hall. Our meeting dates will be: November 30, December 14, January 11, January 25, February 8, February 22, and March 8.
Group 2: Grade K-4 (sponsor: Miss Lyons) will meet in room 314 at the end of the 5th/ 8th grade hallway. Our meeting dates will be: December 7, December 21, January 18, February 1, February 15, March 1, and March 15.
Sign ups for this club will be on the Oak Grove website under "Student Clubs". Each group can have a maximum of 20 students due to COVID restrictions.
Mark your calendars for some fun. Game on!
From Mrs. B. and Mr. Murray
Early Release - Wednesday
Students will be released at 12:45 PM this Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
AM Car Line Drop-off
Please have patience while driving along the curve around the upper parking lot. We understand that families may be in a hurry when dropping off children, but please follow these upper lot guidelines to keep our students and staff safe upon arrival. We are noticing some "near misses" in the parking lot. Please remember to:
Drop your child/ren off as close to Door 18 as possible.
Take your safe turn at Door 18, and not before. Do not go down the middle aisle.
Release your child/ren from the car door that is on the sidewalk side, not traffic side.
It is OK to have your child/ren walk to their morning location/s.
Do NOT pull around on the left of stopped cars (BIG safety challenge!).
Watch for students and staff walking in the crosswalk (another BIG challenge!).
Slow down through the entire parking area and take your time.
As we head into winter weather, the chances of slipping and falling increase. Therefore, we ask for your cooperation in slowing down and following these simple steps for increased safety upon arrival.

Veterans Day Celebration
Our Veterans Day celebration is scheduled for Thursday, November 11th. Thank you to all of the 8th grade students and staff that have worked so diligently to put together this amazing celebration. The event will begin at 10:00 am and will be live streamed. The link will be on the Oak Grove website, for those who cannot attend in person. If you are planning to attend, please refer to the Oak Grove website for any updated information in regards to weather and a potential change in the date. We look forward to celebrating our veterans and service members.
Student Report Cards -Trimester 1
Families will receive trimester 1 student report cards via email on Friday, November 12th. Our reporting tool in grades K-6 is standards based, which means that families will be able to see where their child(ren) are in relation to the grade level standards. We are focusing on specific priority standards this year and our teachers are working very hard to ensure that they are also supporting students with any unfinished learning that may have occurred over the past eighteen months. If you have any questions in regards to your child(ren)’s progress, please reach out to their teacher or discuss during conferences.
6th grade announcement
All 6th grade students will be going on a virtual field trip this week on Wednesday, November 10. Before we begin our day, the room parents will treat us to a breakfast of donuts, juice, and water. An email blast from the school with specifics about the food being served will be sent home. Make sure to read it carefully if you have any concerns about food and/or allergies.
Student Council News
Oak Grove Pride signs that were pre-ordered are beginning to arrive at school. If you pre-ordered, an email will be sent home when yours is ready for pick up.
We are happy to have our Toys for Tots collection back this year! Boxes will be put out during P/T conferences and will remain out until they are picked up the morning of Friday, December 17. Specifics about what toys can be accepted will be in next week's Oak Grove News.

- Family Night will be held on Tuesday, November 16th from 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Junior High Library. We are looking for 3-4 more coordinators (2-3 hour commitment) as well as treat delivery helpers (1 hour) and supply contributors (grab while you shop!).
